State of the Union = Broken government.
Congress cannot even secure endowed (sacred) rights (prosecute trespass; adjudicate disputes; defend against enemies, foreign or domestic).
Trump is going to take that power from Congress. 3pm tomorrow.
Martial law huh? I don't think so. That comes with to much stuff. Travel lockdowns, curfews, squads of soldiers on every corner, cops kicking in doors supported by soldiers etc. Martial law on the border only that doesn't effect US citizens. Maybe. But I doubt that too.
Now, you know as well as I, had not the border patrol stopped them, the last invaders a few moths ago, would have stormed the border to gain entry.
That my friend(and I use that term loosely) is an invasion.
Bob.
In effect, then, you admit your loose use of the term is NOT the definition and wouldn't meet Constitutional muster.
We'll see soon enough...
But on the subject of what people feel Trump can do.
Is there a single thing stopping Trump from dropping a small nuke on Tijuana? Anything? Can he just do it today if he wants?
Probably.
Does that mean it is right? Correct? Moral? Ethical? Good for the Country?
This is where Trumpies fail to note reality. There is a civil way things are done and lot of precedent. Most of it is reasonable. But just because someone CAN do something does not mean they should. One can drive their car over a cliff where a giant crowd of people are below. Until the first person dies and it is proved that you meant to do it, you are innocent (and probably dead anyway).
Trump could, the same way, drop a nuke and probably be impeached for it. But isn't that too late?
Again, folks need to step back and ask themselves if they wish every future POTUS to have the same lack of sense that Trump displays. If the answer is "YES, they are all powerful, then your opinion is fine and dandy. If it's "I support Trump doing these things but would not support Beto doing them", then it's hypocritical.
They voted on a fence in 2006 nowhere near the scale of Trump's proposed wall. This will never be on the Democrats. Trump will always own this shutdown.
Sure, Trump shut it down..... but, Pelosi will own "keeping it shutdown"
I'm OK with it being shutdown.
Has not effected me or my family what so ever. But, I don't rely on Government to live.
I would love him to declare a state emergency because it means the government will re open. I don’t think he’ll do that though. He’d have to prove an emergency which there is none.
He doesn't have to prove it, he only has to claim it.
He will do so. Gvot will reopen. He will take credit for that. He will fund the border wall from some other program. Wall construction will start. SOTU will happen at which time he will excoriate Democrats for their un-American stance on both the border and the shut down.
Win. Win. Win. Win.
Life long Politicians, do not know how "cut throat" business works.
Trump is Pulling a Train on the Democrat Party, all by himself. Now, you understand the term, "Trump Train"
The Commie Democrats, are getting constantly ****ed!
Do you call an estimated 13 million illegals in this country, "a few immigrants trying to crawl over a fence"?
Shame on you.
Bob.
Latest estimates are closer to 30 million.
They are fighting the Citizen box on the census, to keep us in the dark. Par for the coarse in deception.
