I find the wealth envy hilarious, because most people have little understanding of business, the economy etc. Our country has some of the richest poor people in the world, and the average person lives with far more luxuries than 50 years ago. So the anger at the rich is all envy.

“I’m not saying that, but I do think a system that allows billionaires to exist when there are parts of Alabama where people are still getting ringworm because they don’t have access to public health is wrong,” Ocasio-Cortez said.”

Why is that a surprise? LOL She's a socialist dingbat.

Ocasio-Cortez agrees that a world that allows for billionaires is immoral

Sure she does.

When her tenure in Congress is finished, she will probably become a highly paid lobbyist in DC. Between that and her books plus speaking engagement fees, she will approach a level of wealth that she is currently denouncing.

She and Trump will likely get together and laugh about the good ole days when two New Yorkers bamboozled the rest of the country.

Why?

If they aren't breaking any laws, why it is the government's or anyone else's business?

We now have an elected member of congress who is, by definition, a communist

If you read the actual quote, she states she is not obsessed with the other people, or their money. Funny thing is that Warren Buffet would (and has publicly) agree with her.

I don't know much about her, other than that she's young, probably not the brightest bulb in the chandelier and that the right hates her. Whatever, I really don't care.

But her point is not that Billionaires are bad, or that making money is bad. Her point is that the system is broken when someone can become a billionaire when the very people that work full time for that someone are literally living below the poverty line. (Example: The Waltons and their employees)

The Waltons SHOULD be rich. Maybe even Billionaires. But when they are billionaires because the people that work for them are living in poverty, and the system is such that more and more people don't have a choice for a better paying job, then the system, not the people, is broken.

50 years ago in America, you could realize the American dream by working a retail job. You could own a house and put your kids through college. Now you can't

I'm not sure why I typed this. Those that agree will agree, and those that don't, either they don't care or they won't get it. Doesn't matter, I'm not changing anyone's mind.

Me: I make a good living. I'm not a millionaire (nor a billionaire) but I get by just fine. I'm not trying to take anything from anyone. But I do know that sooner or later, the income gap will bite us in the arse, and when it does, it won't be good for anyone. Seems like a better plan for EVERYONE would be to let the rich get rich, but that maybe they'd realize that taking care of their fellow humans by paying them a fair wage is not so bad. Maybe the billionairs could get by with only three yachts, five homes, and seven lambourginis, they wouldn't feel the pain too much, and the people who work for them, who contribute to their wealth could have a modest roof, a used car, and be able to see a freakin' doctor. Maybe it could happen not by government, but by decent human values?

I guess that is too close to socialism for some of you?

Actually, isn't she quoting Jesus?

"A certain ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother.’” He replied, “I have kept all these since my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich. Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God"

True? Or not?

"However, Jesus denied that wealth is a sign of God's favor or that poverty is God's punishment for sin.

Despite the Bible's many warnings against it, the idea that wealth is a sign of God's favor and that the poor have done something to deserve their condition persists as an undercurrent today that is sometimes used to justify a callous attitude toward those who are poor"

I guess it's a moral, ethical and spiritual question.

In the richest nation in the history of the planet, great inequality is a sin against nature, man and spirit...if you believe in any of that stuff.

If, however, money is your God....then you probably don't care much. You'll just say "commie" and be done with it. But God Knows. If he or she exists.
