And the perpetual liberal claptrap is that because YOU don't "need" a gun... the REST of us (who have guns for any number of reasons, BTW) shouldn't have one (or more), either.
Again, more amusing nonsense from the anti-gun crowd....about guns.
I like to target shoot, hunt a little bit and keep guns for home, and self defense. That doesn't mean I live in fear. As others have said I don't fear my house burning down, but I still carry homeowner's INSURANCE.
On average over 266,000 people a year are injured or killed by home invaders each year in the US. The number would be higher if homeowners had no means of protection.
According to the United States Department of Justice...
*An estimated 3.7 million burglaries occurred each year on
average from 2003 to 2007.
*A household member was present in roughly 1 million burglaries
and became victims of violent crimes in 266,560 burglaries.
266,560 burglaries... a minimum of one victim per criminal act
Two replies so far responding to my title assuming I agree in the title of the thread instead of looking at the links that actually refute the title header.

I knew your links refuted the header. I was simply stating it rhetorically that I personally do not own a gun based on fear.
It was germane to the discussion and I like to repeat it often for the anti-gun zealots who have all manner of preconceived notions about people who own firearms.

Yep. My friend prevented their own rape\murder at the hands of a career felon by being armed.
