i am not even sure what your question is or means...i read alot always have but dont pretend to have all the answers..

at the time of the new deal we weren't even twenty years from the Russian revolution..REAL fascism was rising around the world, in THIS country we had anarchists, communist and socialist who generally squabbled among st them selves...Hoover was a great humanitarian and was swept into office as a businessman who fed Europe..

Hoover actually had many new deal ideas which FDR expanded upon.. FDR was criticized by Truman later as a man who had zero friends and lied all the time lol...however there seem to be two sides or more to the new deal as some say FDR saved capitalism and some called him that man in the white-house" with as much hatred as any anti-trump er...

Keynesian economics were just being developed at this time...but yes FDR spent money on people and went into debt helping to create the welfare state..as the world war entered the picture he became known as doctor win the war and the humanitarian programs lost focus to war related stuff

for FDR to have the ability to do his new deal program there had to be a threat from the communist/socialist/anarchist crowd this threat is missing NOW that was the purpose of the Powell memorandum to swing the country rightwards and it has been a huge success for the business crowd

It's a mind fk smoke cloud to make people feel secure.

Such a deal at $8B a year. Cut TSA in half and use the balance to build the BARRIER. Doing the right thing doesn't have to be complicated, but then, that's what the government banks on - keeping things complication, while they skim the creme.

He increased spending which is the opposite of reducing government. Your premise is off yet again.

Make something else up.

Google brings up other searches as well.
Border security is s generic term. A wall is ineffective.

Dems are willing to spend billions elsewhere though

Why are there 3000 unfilled customs and border Patrol positions?

He put that all towards the military.

He cut it everywhere else though but still obese spending overall while cutting taxes. Which is why we now have trillion dollar annual deficits during a supposed economic boom

Even if Trump dropped dead today, the systemic problem of the current crime syndicate that was the GOP needs to be cut off at the knees.

What am I missing? Welfare .354 tril to .348 tril. -.006 tril was the only cut I saw.
The budget went from 4.1 trillion to 4.4 trillion. Thats .3 trillion
Military went up .886 to .95 trillion or .064 trillion.
Where did the rest come from?

All of the following increased from year 2018 to 2019
Pensions
Health Care
Education
Defense
Transportation
General Government
Other Spending
Interest

I love this discussion! I am glad I found this group.

What is wrong with a smaller government?

What is wrong with actually following the constitution and relegating the Federal Government to its original purpose?

As for Social Programs, this is a glass house argument. There are very few people (including people on this thread) who have the wherewithal to be "Their Brothers Keeper"

Social safety nets need to be State, City, Community and Church. Neighbor helping Neighbor. Not a ACH Deposit from some Federal Entity. Our Social Programs are Ponzi Schemes, no better, they are Madoff Schemes.

There is no one in Washington who can relate to a homeless person, a young teen having a baby or young person diagnosed with Aids.

This was not the purpose of Federal Government, any money that "Trickles down" from the Fed has been pilfered, its not the intent of the individual to aquiesse "Good Will" through paying Taxes. The money we pay needs to be spent to maintain a government "For the People". Individuals at the State level need to dictate how their money is used to help others.

All the complaining, all of the Red vs. Blue caterwauling is a complete Smoke Screen. WE allow ourselves to be drawn into this divisiveness in order to give up more of our Power and Money to people who waste it and actually think they are better than us.

We have created a new "Royal Class". We pay them (Federal Politicians) indefinitely and we get NOTHING in return.

As for Corporatism, if we take away Federal Powers and force Corporations to deal on a state to state basis, they will have no other choice than to curtail their "Whats best for Wallstreet" antics.

Our Federal Government, at its current pace, will be FORCED to change laws and protections for 401K and ROTHS in order to AFFORD the debt service we have accumulated in our deficits. No one in Washington is concerned about paying the debts, they never have been. Why should they, as politicians, they get paid no matter what.

These problems are OUR FAULT.

Trump put on a good show and tapped into a vein that is always ready to boil over, Middle Class (The Majority) is always on the verge of revolt.

When the Hell are we actually going to DO IT? Red and Blue alike, its our money and we are not being represented.

We need to sharpen the pitch forks and we need to storm Washington.

Generation X is the last generation with the ability to SEE, our kids are already indoctrinated, they will have no problem living with Less and being TOLD what to do. We have allowed our Education system to turn our kids into Zombies that know how to take tests.

If you don't believe, try to have a conversation with them that is longer than 10 minutes about "What democracy means to me?"

there is your homework assignment, I look forward to the responses.

New Slogan

"Take America Back Again, Revolution is necessary, the sequel. 236 years in the making."

I like the way you get to the heart of the matter in few words. This has been the real agenda for decades. Sure today the faux issue is "the wall" but over that time there have been a dozen other similar distractions trotted out by the neo-fascists. You have to hand it to them - it has worked brilliantly. We have 25% of the American voting public (more or less), that buy into this nonsense while they take their eyes off the prize. When down the road we are all under the thumb of an authoritarian regime, they STILL won't be able to figure out how they were hornswaggled.
