Yes, thank you, Spartacus. Israel is the closest thing to a democracy in the middle east, so would immediately deserve our support, and any decent person would respect the fact that it is unfortunately driven to violence by being surrounded by insatiable enemies.

The Palestinians, apart from the fact that they engage in terrorism targeting civilians, apart from the fact that they glorify suicide missions, apart from the fact that they teach their children to glorify violence/murder have, as I understand it, connived against Israel for Israel's destruction - yet they still expect favorable treatment from Israel. And despite any myth of Arab brotherhood, no middle east country wants them.

Any evidence that Palestine was empty before 1945 or are you just making things up? Btw how do you explain all of the photos of Palestinians in Palestine before 1945?

Clearly you don't have a clue about the subject, area, history or politics of the region.

The "Blame it all on Israel" shtick that is the common line among anti-Semitic bigots in the UN, across the Middle East, among many Democrat leftists and also many elitist establishment types in Europe and others around the world, is "counterproductive," as Dershowitz explains, because "it encourages Palestinian recalcitrance".

Well said, Allan.

There is much more at the link and if you are someone who cares about this issue, I would encourage you to read all of it. It is an excellent article on this topic. Better than the article in the New York Times, that is for sure:

I wish I could post more, as there is more to the article that is essential.

Dershowitz explains how if the Palestinians had put the money and resources it received when the Israelis handed over Gaza to build roads, hospitals, schools, etc, rather than to build missiles and terror tunnels, Gaza would now be the Middle East "Singapore on the Sea"

He goes on to explain all of the different opportunities that the Palestinians had to wipe out the Jews, but failed to capitalize, because while the right of conquest apparently is not respected for the Jews, it would be respected for the Palestinians, if they were ever actually to succeed in conquering the Israelis.

Anyway, the Israelis have repeatedly accepted the proposal of a two state solution and the Palestinians never have. In order for their to be peace in this area, the Palestinians and the Muslim world are going to have to accept Israel. Period. As long as they will not, this conflict will not end.

Alan Dershowitz has on this issue gotten it almost exactly right.
To be fair if you hide behind a big wall and shoot little kids on live TV, you are the bad guy. And Israel has been shooting innocent people for most of my life. It amazes me that the same people who were ghettoized and murdered enmass , have no problem ghettoizing and murdering. The solution is simple and has worked everywhere it is employed.... employment, education a brighter future, stake in society.

It works, it is hard, it requires real world jobs, real schools, with real opportunity and it requires Israel finds a way to accommodate in disputed areas. I am not saying they will like it, i am saying it is the only way to end this long term. otherwise you are always breeding the next generation of fighters....

As soon as the US stops blindly supporting Israel we will see israel begin its long journey to peace.

Didn't the Brits control the area in 1945? Should we give it back to them?
