Ah, the good old days. When women were butchered by back-street abortionists.

I guess in reality we are all clumps of cells aren't we? I guarantee you, their next step will be advocating for allowing mothers to murder their babies after birth.

I suspect you probably know people who've used birth control and still got pregnant.

Anecdotal stories about exceptions to the rule don't disprove the general validity of the rule.

Used properly and responsibly, modern methods of birth control are extremely effective.

Extremely effective doesn't mean 100% effective. In a country of more than 300 million people, millions of them are having sex every day. A 1% failure rate means unwanted pregnancies, EVERY day.

To me, you were implying that intentional pregnancy termination didn't exist in some unspecified "olden days", so I wanted to know when exactly that timeframe was when women didn't seek abortions.
Sure, Illegal Abortions existed.

But even you should be able to agree that they were very rare in comparison to today.

You are actually helping to prove another point of Abortion. Legalized Abortion have increased the numbers of them explosively.

There is plenty of time within that first trimester to kill the child. No need to wait until dilation.

I would suggest thinking more deeply about this. WHY do intelligent, responsible and moral women choose to have abortions? What are the consequences and risks that make women prefer terminating a pregnancy rather than going forward?

If women went ahead and had abortions when they were illegal, because an abortion was so preferable to going through with a pregnancy, and if legalizing abortion has increased the numbers, then obviously the question is to ask why?

And the best way to reduce abortions is not to criminalize abortion, but to resolve the issues that weigh on women to the point where they choose to have an abortion.
