A ground stop has been ordered at LaGuardia airport due to staffing related issues, the Federal Aviation Administration said Friday.

The stop was ordered shortly before 10 a.m. Some arriving flights are also being delayed.

The government shutdown has entered its 35th day, the longest federal shutdown over

Just think if Government were not in control of your life, as if you were their property. There would be no issue today. You would have freedom to travel and locomotion and the liberty to choose for yourself how and where.

Yup. The commercial airline grid is slowing towards a halt first on the east coast and possibly expanding across the country. ATC and TSA under strain. We can only hope there are no flying accidents or bad actors slipping through security. Be interesting to see if Melanie goes down to Florida on a tax payer funded government aircraft this weekend.

What it shows is that if you shut the government down, many, many things do not get done. It shows how much worse things are WITHOUT those government services operating.

Then get rid of airports, that should be good for you.

But if airports are privatized they will lead to a monopoly, high prices, and plane crashes due to a lack of coordination in terms of air-traffic control with competing airports.

Has it been pointed out that all these people who can’t work it henders the economy?
No paycheck means that they can’t help stimulate the economy.

Not that I expect Trump and his supporters to understand something so simple.

"We have experienced a slight increase in sick leave at two air traffic control facilities affecting New York and Florida," the FAA said in a statement. "As with severe storms, we will adjust operations to a safe rate to match available controller resources. We've mitigated the impact by augmenting staffing, rerouting traffic, and increasing spacing between aircraft as needed."

Oh noes! 40 minutes!
