You all keep claiming it's a hoax (I guess that's the new battle cry when a racially-motivated crime is committed) yet Jussie is still a free man. Guess it's one of those "A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth" things. The WS Playbook is so predictable.
Nice deflection. What is your opinion about this incident (the incident that this thread is about)?
Most people looking at the facts are they are known are probably convinced this is a hoax. But it feels like this is a ways from any sort of official action against Jussie.
To bring any criminal charge they would need to be able to prove he knowingly lied beyond a reasonable doubt. It is very very hard to prove a negative in criminal case. Particularly when its Jussie vs the cops in a city where many distrust cops. Given the high profile nature of the situation an aquital would be a PR disaster for the city.
Often when hate crime hoaxes are uncovered the person involves confesses in exchange for avoiding the expense and risk of charges. Jussie has his entire career on the line and deep pocketed backers. He has the will and means to play chicken with the cops in a way Joe A Public doesn't.
Unless police really have the goods that we haven't seen yet (texts to the brothers, video evidence) it is very possible this just ends with police closing down the investigation citing lack of evidence.
An obstruction of justice charge is probably a little more likely if he tried to delete texts or something.
It should be noted the tweet came from a NY affiliate. I watch the local ABC affiliate in Chicago and they are not reporting on half the stuff being mentioned in this thread. 90% of the information in this case is based on internet rumors.

What tweet? So many have been posted in this thread, many of which are from the Chicago ABC affiliate reporter's Twitter feed (and other local reporters' feeds), providing the bulk of the most recent new details.

Aren't you following Rafer Weigel (FOX 32) and Rob Elbas (WLS) tweets? That's where much of the information is coming from.

I don't follow tweets. I only mentioned it because you posted it. Twitter is one of the biggest gossip mills on the internet. I only hear about this case when I happen to watch the news on television. I don't think I've heard any of the "developments" from this thread mentioned on the evening news. This story has a whole different life on the internet. It's pretty fascinating.
