1.) Sometimes DAs and Special Counsels simply do not have enough evidence to warrant charges.
2.) Funny how the same people questioning why charges were dropped against Smollet want more questions are the same people saying we don't need to see the Mueller Report.
Be an adult and prove your accusation please. Show comments on CDF of posters in this thread stating they are questioning why charges were dropped as well as those exact same posters making statements about not wanting to see the Mueller Report.
No way. This will allow him to stay on the show, though I suppose there will always be an asterisk of sorts around him. I doubt you watch, but I do and I will be glad to see him back in his role.
I don't watch it. Nothing against it though. I'd be very surprised if he's allowed back on the show.
These deferred prosecutions/diversions are common in minor cases. Saves everyone time and money.
I suspect this played a small role -- but the bigger problem was trying the case in the court of public opinion.
The Chicago PD went too far in its condemnation of Smollett. Unfortunately their anger and frustration got the better of them and that press conference could have been a problem. How does Smollett have a 'fair' trial -- blah blah blah.
Just doesn't seem right.
This doesn't promote anyone's agenda -- except those that are championing the cause of low income persons charged with lesser crimes that don't have the same money and privilege to bail them out.
Seriously -- this is not a win for Dems or MAGA haters or anybody. He's guilty -- it doesn't make it all go away just because he got off.
Upper middle class here and I've seen how young people who are charged by police can 'write an essay', 'do community work', etc....and pay a price and get off with no record.
Less fortunate kids go to juvie for lesser offenses.
It's the system and this is an ugly -- wide open -- example of that.
Sources tell CBS 2 that CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson is furious and that he received no notification about the charges being dropped.........Chicago politics.
This is a just ending. We all (well I certainly) have done dumb-ass things in our lives. Mostly we don't get caught and get away with them. With celebrity in the age of the internet, the media and the Chicago cops blew this up way beyond what it deserved. Parenthetically, it appears the Chicago cops are given to the same over-reaction that they were when cracking skulls of peaceful demonstrators at the Dem Convention.
So leftists can now: Fake a hate crime Claim a fake lynching Lie to the media Lie to Americans Cause a media frenzy against Trump supporters Plead not guilty Walk away scot-free
