Because we'd have to impeach every politician ever elected?
While you are thinking about that, consider this: WHY is it legal for any and every holder of any elected office to lie to the Citizens of the United States, but it is illegal for any citizen to lie to Congress, or the FBI, or the Police?
I do believe that any falsehood stated on the floor of the Senate or the House, or during an election campaign, or in or near the White House, by any governmental official; President, Vice President, Cabinet Member, Senator, or Representative, should be grounds for censure or impeachment.
We, the Citizens of the United States, have an absolute right to expect total honesty and truthfulness from our Government. ALL of our government!
The wailing and gnashing of teeth over the foibles of trump with the truth, while accepting the lack of honesty in all the rest of the politicians and law enforcement personnel is absolutely the height of hypocrisy!

No, saying whether you inhaled or not is not the same as lying and leading us into a war where we spend Trillions of dollars. At some point people must be held accountable....and at more places than the ballot box.
The founders did not put it in the Constitution as a joke.
Remember, Impeachment is not a conviction. It's a trial. The evidence will be weighed.
Lying repeatedly is more about a pathology, a sickness, a defect that this president has. That problem is covered under the 25th Amendment - someone who is unable to perform his job. He should not be impeached, he should be retired under the provisions of the 25th.

For the second time, Article III Section 3 defines treason:

So 'treasonous statement' is likely a contradiction in terms. But what statements do you have in mind that would meet the standard of Article III Section 3?
