Sure. Lenin and Stalin were a couple of Christian men.
Well, a lot of your Christian heroes in DC and our Government seem to think so.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fa...American_Power

"a secretive fundamentalist Christian association led by Douglas Coe - the organization fetishizes power by comparing Jesus to “Lenin, Ho Chi Minh, Bin Laden” as examples of leaders who change the world through the strength of the covenants they had forged with their “brothers”

""Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler. Think of the immense power these three men had.” (Coe) also quoted Jesus and said: “One of the things [Jesus] said is 'If any man comes to me and does not hate his father, mother, brother, sister, his own life, he can't be a disciple.’"

Do, these Fundamentalists - who count a large number of powerful Senators, Congress Critters and others among their ilk, approve of ALL Authoritarians and also tell you to hate your family!

Does the health service company make you swear to hate your father, mother, brother, sister and yourself?

Weird stuff. It's troubling that this is the guy who organized the National Prayer Breakfast - inserting this stuff into the highest levels of our government.

Fetishes of Power....doesn't sound very "free" to me.

No need to be disingenuous.

If you look at all the Jonestown transcripts (google it) and not cherry pick one that suits your purpose Jones was most certainly a Christian and a minister for 50 years and was also a lunatic. He just had his own spin on Christianity to give him more control and power.

Start here, part of the official FBI records his christian sermons from the mid 70's:

I would like to see a Catholic government here. Catholic moral teaching taught from the early grades. Just like the Marxists have put their people in key positions to influence culture and turn America away from God, I would like to do the same thing, only, I would steer people into the right direction. Have the kids learn Catholic sexual morality so they will understand WHY you don't have sex outside marriage. Frankly, I would like to make the country fit to be Samaritan members. Start from the ground up.

I already made my money, so I don't have to work. And so I have thought seriously of teaching social stuides in our local school system. These kids are in desperate need of a real education in simple economics, history, and government, as well as a dose of a moral spiritual development

Is birth control still "garbage" when it helps regulate a woman's period and diminishes debilitating pain?

Stay out of my body, please. Especially men (hello OP). Keep your Christian health plan with a ton of limits.

No matter what the OP says it was called a Church. It was a Church. In fact, many of the actions of that particular church DID follow the ideals of Jesus...they tended to accept and talk to more of the people....like Jesus did (it wasn't a white or rich or specific congregation, they were very accepting).

I'm sure they got the tax deduction....

But it's not really fair to paint all Christians with sex-crazed Priests, Meth-Addled homosexual leaders (Haggart) and those who boff their Assistance (Bakker)......we are all sinners.

And that's just the point. By their works and words you shall know them...and, sometimes, by their MLM or Ponzi schemes.

Inclusiveness doesn't seem to be one of the big items on the Christian checklist in some sects. I know of many churches that try to make sure as much of the business done in, by and with members is all with other members. If someone moves to that area and has skills they will largely be out of luck unless they are of the flock.

That's troubling. Tribal. Insular.

Oh, good Lord.

See, I told you this thread hadn't run its course.

Hey, cool. You used the same source I used to show he was an avowed atheist.

If you want a catholic government move to the Vatican.

People on the left want socialism, on the right they want theocracy. Neither is going to happen here. Better to move yourself to a place that fits your ideals. I am fine here the way it is. We are not a theocracy or over run by socialist (at least yet). Lets leave well enough alone. The alternatives are quite horrible.

Wow.

What part of the Bible did you pull that last bit from?

The Catholic church is the most ethnically diverse organization in the world. By far.
