They know Northam is toast, so they’re going to throw him under the bus, and while doing so they “mistakenly” label him a Republican and then later maybe, or maybe not, recant.
They don’t need to fool everybody, or everybody, all at once.
What they’ll do is, little by little, throw lies (misinformation) out to damage republicans or Trump.
The "misinformation" will be passed off as innocent or innocuous, but in reality its designed to be a paper cut.
Highly annoying but seemingly harmless.
In reality, its goal is death by a thousand cuts.
Discourage or alienate a handful here, and another handful there and another over there, within a short time you’ve affected a large group.
While watching the 5PM local news on 12 (ABC) out of San Antonio they brought up Ralph Northam and his situation.
They then ran a clip from ABC news that in the lower left hand corner had a box that read "Republican Ralph Northam"!
i'm sure that in some languages, "republican" starts with a "D". Just an "honest" mistake- oh,,,,,,,,,,wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the dems are not honest.
No...they actually did that. And even issued a weak apology for their mistake, without actually saying he is a Democrat. They just apologized for getting his political affiliation wrong.
Didn't know they admitted to just half of their lie, But I knew yesterday that they would do exactly that.
It still leaves the impression in the minds of the low-information types that regularly tune-in to CNN that he isn't what he really is, a card-carrying Democrat.
I'm surprised ChristineVA didn't mention this but Gov. Northam considered running as a Republican but decided he'd have a better chance of winning the Democratic nomination.
I won't hold my breathe for Democrats to apply this kind of logic to David Duke who started out as a Democrat to including running for president as a Democrat.
Sloppy journalism for sure. CNN should take accountability and apologize. And they should hire some people who aren't idiots and can get at least basic facts right. Even I knew he's a Democrat. The stakes are high, screw-ups like this feed an already toxic narrative, and these are supposed to be professionals.
One thing Trump is right about is that the media are the enemy of the American people. The Left lives by lies.
Like the Right-wingers are not dishonest at time! Just look at Faux News.
