Remember Marie Colvin, the reporter who was killed in Syria? The one who had the movie made about her? ("A Private War" - very good.)

Her family won a lawsuit against Syria for murdering her (although of course they'll never collect).

Now imagine if residents of Iraq and Syria start filing lawsuits against the US. I have the deepest respect for her and other reporters that risk their lives but I don't see this going far.

What is the point if you know you are never going to collect? Syria should have responded saying their intelligence showed coordinated attacks were being planned there. That's the excuse we always use.

If you read the articles, the premise is that she was specifically targeted - and also, she's a journalist, not an ordinary resident caught up in a war.
