Planned Parenthood Reports Record Abortions, High Profits
By Randy Hall

June 15, 2007

(CNSNews.com) - Despite a drop in donations and the first fall in income from clinics in its history, the nation's biggest abortion provider made a high profit last year, thanks to the American taxpayer. Pro-lifers want this to stop.

During its 2005-2006 fiscal year, the nonprofit Planned Parenthood Federation of America performed a record 264,943 abortions, attained a high profit of $55.8 million and received record taxpayer funding of $305.3 million.

According to its annual report, income is divided roughly into three major categories: clinic income (fees charged to customers at clinics); donations (gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals); and taxpayer money (grants and contracts from federal, state and local government).

For the year July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006, Planned Parenthood received $345.1 million in clinic income, $305.3 million in taxpayer funding and $212.2 million in donations. Total income reached $902.8 million while total expenses came to $847.0 million, leaving a profit of $55.8 million.

Numerous calls to Planned Parenthood offices in both New York City and Washington, D.C., seeking comment for this article, were not returned, but a statement on the organization's website says that the report "illustrates the achievements of an organization founded to prevent unintended pregnancy and protect women's health and safety."

IMHO this is an outrage...

Senator Brownback Calls For Defunding Planned Parenthood
November 8, 2007 – Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) has just issued a call for the suspension of federal funding of Planned Parenthood. The Congress and state governments provide an estimated $300 million a year to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

In a letter sent to Senator Tom Harkin, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Service Appropriations and the House Appropriations Committee, Brownback and several colleagues wrote:

We write to urge you to suspend all funding in all future Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies Appropriations bills for organizations that promote abortion. … While we continue to have rigorous debate in this country about abortion, we should be able to come to some fundamental agreements. We should not use tax dollars to subsidize abortion clinics – particularly when there are serious concerns regarding their compliance with state law and medical standards.

Sen. Brownback’s call for suspension of funding comes in the wake of the prosecution of Planned Parenthood in Overland Park, Kansas by Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline. (Read TVC’s editorial on Planned Parenthood.)

D.A. Kline has filed 107 charges against the PP clinic, Comprehensive Health Services for Women. The charges include 29 counts of performing illegal late term abortions; 29 counts of unlawful failure to determine the viability for late term abortions; 23 felony counts of making false information and 27 counts for unlawful failure to maintain records.

This is the same clinic that TVC and Life Dynamics exposed in 2000 for participating in a baby body parts marketing scheme. This clinic provided the remains of aborted babies to the Anatomic Gift Foundation (AGF) in Maryland. The AGF then shipped the parts off to researchers for a fee.

One of the aborted girls from the Planned Parenthood clinic was cut up and sold to eight different researchers. They ordered her legs, arm, pancreas, liver, thymus, and eyes. TVC has the actual billing logs from AGF, showing that the body parts came from this Overland Park clinic.

The charges against Planned Parenthood of Overland Park are nothing new. There has been a pattern of this kind of behavior from PP clinics all over the United States. Here are a few examples:

The most recent case involves the Planned Parenthood clinic in Los Angeles County. Earlier this year, an 18-year-old girl pretended to be 15 and to have been impregnated by her 23-year-old boy friend. She appeared on “The O’Reilly Factor” to tell what the abortion counselor advised her to do: “The first employee at the first Planned Parenthood told me, you know, ‘Figure out a birth date that works. Don’t know anything.’ I went in there as a 15-year-old girl, and she immediately was like, ‘Oh, you can cover that up and say you’re 16 and say you’re older so that, you know, your boyfriend won’t get – your 23-year-old statutory rapist boyfriend will not get in trouble.’” (“The O’Reilly Factor”, May 17, 2007, Fox News Network Transcript)

In 2002, a PP clinic in Arizona was found guilty of failing to report an abortion on a 12-year-old girl who had been impregnated by her foster brother. She was returned to her foster home and impregnated a second time!

Life Dynamics set up a sting operation in 2000, which involved having women call abortion clinics and pretend to be underage girls impregnated by adults. Out of 614 phone calls taped, 516 (80%) revealed that clinic counselors willingly disregarded or concealed knowledge of statutory rapes! (Cherry Blattert, “Planned Parenthood Breaking Law,” September 10, 2002, University Wire)

In 2004, a Cincinnati girl, age 14 was impregnated by a 21-year-old soccer coach who escorted her to the Planned Parenthood clinic for an abortion. She used his credit card to get the abortion. She told PP personnel she’d been raped by a stranger. The PP clinic did not report this crime! (Charlotte Allen, The Weekly Standard, “Planned Parenthood’s Unseemly Empire; The Billion-Dollar ‘Non-Profit,’” October 22, 2007)

TVC posted Life Dynamic’s series of phone conversations between abortion clinic counselors and women posing as girls with unwanted pregnancies. The women made sure that the abortion counselors knew that they had been impregnated by adults. Statutory rape laws require the reporting of any cases of adult/child sex, yet these abortion counselors routinely overlooked this and many willingly covered up for the girls.

TAKE ACTION: Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and to your U.S. Representative asking that federal funding to Planned Parenthood be stopped. Contact your state representatives and senators and ask that they tell you how much money is going from the state government to Planned Parenthood. Ask them to freeze all funding until there is an investigation of how PP operates in your state.

So all the girls who actually DO get raped, where are they supposed to go now? The back alley with a wire clotheshanger and just hope for the best?

That would bother me much less than 18 years of expenses for the child in question. Which costs less, in the long run?

Don't you people do any homework at all? Planned Parentgood receives federal funding under two programs, Title X and Medicaid. Exactly zero abortions are funded under Title X. That's none at all. Under federal law, Medicaid MUST pay for abortions for indigent women in the case of rape or incest, or if the mother's life is endangered. Very few abortions fall into that category, and only a few of those are performed at Planned Parenthood affiliated clinics. Often enough, state Medicaid officials simply don't bother to pay for those services in any case, even though the law requires them to...

I would say that they could go to pregnancy crisis centers. Where they would get counceling for their trama... A soft shoulder to cry on... and someone who really cares about their ordeal.

Also, I have to say, I don't think that by defunding PP of our tax dollars would put them out of business..

So tit for tat... they pay their light bills, mortgages, equipment cost, stockpiling funds, salary employees and for their defense teams to sue the government over partial birth abortions with the government funds.... might as well be using it for abortions imho.

What would be the difference in letting them do all that on their own dime? Instead of the taxpayer's dime?

Yeah, those pregnancy crisis centers that are anti-choice. How many of you people adopt kids? A soft shoulder is not what someone needs when they've already been raped once.

Your ignorance is amazing, you don't want to know that PP provides health care services on a sliding scale for all women. Abortion services are only a small part of the equation. In these economic times, we need PP more than ever.

Planned Parenthood believes in the natural right of each individual to manage his or her fertility regardless of the individual's income, marital status, age, national origin or residence.

We also believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary
and preserve the individual's right to privacy.

Based on these beliefs, the mission of Planned Parenthood is:

* to provide comprehensive reproductive and complimentary health care to those in need of these services.
* to disseminate information about human sexuality and the need for family planning and responsible parenthood.
* to advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services.

Obviously, you know nothing about the organization.
So, you lose your job, have no health benefits and find a lump somewhere... where would you go?

PP is very lucky, twice in two weeks they're getting $100 donations from me to make up for the ignorance of people who post with ignorance and control issues and no knowledge of the organization.

Spare me the outrage, I'm glad to have specifically contributed to this funding.

They are one of the very few organizations that provide routine medical services to severely handicapped adults, and they have my complete appreciation for this service.

To anyone indignant about this funding, you really need to take another look at things that annoy you in life.
