I recently took one of those ancestry tests that are now so popular. I am white but my test came back that I am a small % African .4% Nigerian. Can I now put African American on forms that ask for my race? Do you think more people will start to do this as more people take these tests? There is the thing called the one drop rule where if you have one drop of black blood you are considered black. Wouldn't that mean I am black?
You could put "African American" on such forms. However, I think it is best to do that once you have at least a finite percent of it in your blood. For me, I would do that only if I was at least 10% of a race or ethnicity.

is the one drop rule not considered valid anymore? i remember it used to come up from time to time
These DNA tests are poison. I think they are a trick.
admittedly they will tell you the reference groups they use to base your traits off of are not as big as they would like. that should get better as more and more ppl take these tests.
1) 2000 years ago the Med was one giant trade center. This is how you got the African.
2) .4% is less than the required 25% required to be minority.
