New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo wakes up and realizes tax the wealthy, tax the rich, is a loser, they leave the state.

With a national policy to do the same they would leave the country too. Cuomo was counting on the wealthy Wall St bonuses also but its not working out the way it has in the past.

Cuomo said. "Tax the rich, tax the rich, tax the rich. The rich leave, and now what do you do?”

The final straw was no longer being able to deduct the state taxes on the federal return. For high earners, this is costly. What's nice is that when these blue states raise taxes again, people will know exactly where the blame should go.

The SALT deduction reduction was brilliant.

They are fine with taxing the rich as long as they can hide from being the cause of those high taxes.

Now that Cuomo is exposed as the rich are leaving, he is squealing like a stuck pig... even though SALT deduction does exactly what they advocate. The lower and middle class get the tax break with the state tax deduction, and the rich don't get the deduction.

Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Exactly. That is how it is supposed to work. The rich pay more, period. However, the smart ones legally reduce their overall tax burden as much as they can.

So where does your state rank?

Note Im not for all of NYS spending but find it funny when poor states full of crappy schools and "disabled" pontificate that they are somehow subsidizing wealthy states with high taxes.

Im sure some states make a nice balance between taxes and spending.

NY doesn't have the perks of California to keep the wealthy after they've taxed the hell out of them.

Perks being the weather, scenery, entertainment...not our poop-lined streets, homeless, and rats.

Poor Dems get what they want and realize they are the fools.
They really are emotionally driven and don't think ahead to the results.

I wonder how much revenue they could bring in if they taxed the rats.

They are a growing population.
They use the infrastructure and seem to be given sanctuary by Dems too.
