That is the very definition of secular. You assume secularism = humanitarian. And further, you assume humanitarian = good. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Which denomination should be the official one? You know that some Christian denominations are LGBT affirming and some aren't as hard-lined against abortion. Despite their political dominance, white evangelical fundamentalists only comprise about 25% of the American population. What about the other 75% of Americans?
I think Catholicism would be the best one. In fact the perfect one.
Its just so crazy that an entire voting base will post crap like this using blatant lies as the foundation for their posts. No the official religion of the US is not atheism...no abortions are not supported up until birth regardless of the health of the baby. Where the hell do you get this stuff? More importantly WHY do you do it? Is it mental illness?
Atheists have also perverted the concept of separation of church and state to such extremes that a coach can't even pray for his team and many communities have had to destroy their long term values and traditions or monuments all to appease the all mighty intolerant atheists. Atheists won't even allow a Gideon Bible to be placed in a hotel room out of sight anymore.

And the country is less diverse now than it was in 1789?
A religious state is always limited in size. As a country grows, it necessarily becomes more-diverse. Religious-tolerance is necessary if you want to maintain an empire. All empires have had religious tolerance. Even the Mongols had religious tolerance.
A secular-state could span the globe. A religious state can barely get out of its backyard.
