Not really...

It is a markedly different stance... less than a month ago, she was laughing at her own joke about $1 for the wall.

The SOTU polls rattled her cage.

If this is the final deal, the bipartisan committee has screwed this president. No amount of bloviating can change the fact that Trump started with $5.7 billion and a wall, and ended up with $1.8 billion and some kind of "barrier." Anyway you look at it, it's a slap in his face. By his own party, no less.

I hope this is the final deal. It will make Trump look weak if he accepts such a step down in his demands with nothing to show for it in return.

And no, the GOP is not going to allow another shutdown. They will override his veto to avoid that. This is as good as it gets for him. Put a big L on his forehead.

I would prefer to debate with a group that has something to offer. But when there is a red ball and they argue the ball is obviously green it makes it difficult to take them seriously. So I'll continue to laugh at them instead.

Yep. Trumpies are good for a laugh. But not much else.

Madam Pelosi hasn't "caved" or anything of sort. She merely stated would accept a bipartisan deal *IF* it was reached. Scanning the lay of land DT seems to have no intention of allowing such a deal to happen, at least one that does not give him exactly what he wants. It's like telling your eejit son he can have a new car if scores straight A's in school. Yeah there is a chance he will rise to the challenge and you'll have to pony up; but odds are you've made a pretty safe wager.

All politics is about the art of the deal; and Madam Pelosi has forgotten more about that subject than His Orangeness ever knew. The woman hasn't outlasted three or more GOP speakers of the house much less continue to win reelection in her home district for nothing.
But I thought it was a moral outrage and inhuman, why would she then consider to fund a wall if she's so morally against it? Is she just a sheep being led by the herd or does she have the balls to stand for her convictions?

Trump asked for funds to be allocated for good physical barriers but the Dems wouldn't go along with that. I hope that's not the case this time around but if Pelosi signs a bill that allocates funds for the wall she'll be a hypocrite as she called physical barriers/walls, immoral.

Trump said Mexico would pay for the wall. The dems are not obligated to cover for a lie the president told.

Americans lose either way.
The wall will save American lives !!! So there is that part of the equation.

Looks like Donald Trump is going to cave.

Congressional aides from both sides of the aisle are saying democrats and republicans in Congress are working on a bill that might give Trump LESS than ONE THIRD of what he was asking for, anywhere from $1.3B to $1.8B total for "border security." Some of the funding will go towards "border barriers," but some funding will also go towards better scanning equipment at ports of entry, more border agents, and high-tech gadgets.

Trump is in a very difficult situation, as all outcomes will make him look bad. Trump did this to himself, he deserves it.

Way to go Schumer and Pelosi, played Trump like a fiddle.

This is just step one of a much more secure national border.

By negotiating, Pelosi camp is understanding a far longer shutdown follows if they continue supporting illegals and ignoring the safety of US citizens.

What he promised would be 25-50 Billion and payed by Mexico.

What he is going to get....is what would have been done anyway. Maybe less. Because if the GOP and Trump came along for the ride of REAL immigration reform, Americans would be open to many 10's of billions.

But they won't. Because Trump Golf Clubs need workers.

Put another way, Trump asked for major restrooms with gold plated fixtures, attendants, etc. and they gave him a used Johnny on the Spot. MAGA.
