Seattle got almost the same amount of snow it gets in a year in one day, leaving officials scrambling to get people off the streets and the governor declaring a state of emergency.
Another round of snow hit Washington state this week, leaving officials scrambling to get people off the streets and the governor declaring a state of emergency.
Nearly 20 million people in the Northwest are under storm alerts Saturday morning as one to two more inches of snow are expected to fall in Seattle,
Probably so, at least for those who believe one American city is representative of the entire globe and fail to understand predictions of warming also include predictions of extreme weather conditions.

Actually, if you note the little emoji they used and the tenor of their comment....they're actually mocking the people that do exactly that anytime some city, region, state or whatnot has a heatwave and those exact types of threads pop up.
Sooooo, you're saying they're being dumb but in reality their post is a parody of the piles of posts we get here about how it proves global warming by blah blah blah.
The PNW is under a long term polar vortex with no end in sight.
Of course there is a difference between weather and climate but eventually the weather averages affect climate calcs....this looks like the coldest February in memory. To be fair, before this cold front, our weather had been very mild all winter.
Yes. We're losing all the ice on Greenland in the summer months. The Arctic and Antarctic are also losing ice mass. The Amazon rain forest is being cut down by the Brazilians. The ocean temperatures are rising and our coral reefs are dying off. Weather patterns are changing because off of too many human beings on this planet and all the garbage and emissions we produce.
The Paris Climate Accord focused on carbon emissions, not on limiting human population. IMO the global problem is really needing to greatly cut back on the number of babies produced each year in developing countries... and developed countries need to stop being afraid of shrinking human populations in their own countries (we can't count on increasing numbers to pay for senior retirement and care).
Less people, less garbage produced, less disposable diapers thrown away, less pressure on how to feed billions more people, less pressure on our wildlife... etc, etc...
But yes, in the big picture, our planet is getting hotter on its surface.
Yepper, while the climate has warmed about 1.4 degrees F. over the last century, much of the WEATHER is currently 10 to 30 degrees F. (if not more) colder than the 30 year average in many areas.
Since there is nothing we can do about the WEATHER, we will just have to adapt or move South.
I read an article recently that claims that global warming could change the currents in the Atlantic Ocean, which would probably mean that the warming that moderates the weather in the North Atlantic countries would become much colder, leading to another ice age.
I found the use of "maybe", "probably", and "could" quite intriguing. Seems to me a qualified "expert" could be somewhat more definitive. But, obviously, that is expecting too much!
