By standing up for Jews, I think you mean support for Israel. To be clear both Democrats and Republicans support Israel due to the lobbying efforts by AIPAC. However, with Republicans, there is the added benefit most of the constituents are Islamaphobic.
You would never see them bend over backwards for blacks, Mexican Americans or gays. When they get up on their soapboxes, they look hypocritical when you consider how they’ve put Trump on a pedestal.

A fact of American politics is that both sides do have to appease the Jewish power brokers in Washington and in the national media. Being seen as not supportive enough of Israel will make you an enemy of them and you will see your political career hindered or destroyed. As much as I hate Ilhan, even she is recognizing this now. American Jews use their power to make sure Israel's interests are protected.
I do support israel for religious reasons, and not because of the Rapture but because the Bible simply tells us to support Israel, but I wish this support can be reciprocated by the Jewish community. Jewish leaders like Chuck Schumer are very conservative when it comes to protecting their own people in Israel and support Israel's wall, and would never advocate forcing Israel to accept refugees, but they want America to accept refugees, and they also want Europe to accept refugees. Yes Israel has every right to preserve their safety and culture but don't we Americans have this right to preserve our culture and our safety as well?

this. we republicans stand up for everyone regardless of race religion or what ever. but we wont try to assign extra rights to any one group. everyone is equal in our eyes.
