Actually, the INTEREST RATES are best at raising the national debt. Until the parties can agree to making cuts in government spending, the interest rate alone will continue to multiply the debt at a rate that we cannot overcome. Same will be true of the next president and the one to follow.
If you want to blame folks (which, by the way, they blamed Obama, Bush, and Clinton too) blame yourself for choosing a party line and refusing to work with the other side to accomplish legislation that is good for the country. You and the rest of Americans who have "chosen sides" and refuse to talk to the other side are what's driving up the National Debt.
But the "corporate propaganda" influenced Americans ignore the above $2.2 trillion being added to our debt, and then they say "spending is causing our debt." How can we ever solve our debt problem when so many Americans ignore, hide, and cover up trillions of dollars being added to our debt with supply side tax cuts?
The other $7 trillion dollars added to our debt during Obama's time in office was caused by the Bush administrations Iraq/Afghanistan wars, GW Bush's tax cuts that took place when Obama first entered office, increased spending by GW Bush (Bush increased spending by 48.6%), and federal subsidies started by GW Bush, ex.ex.
Obama 6.3 T or 28%. 2009-2016. Obama inherited a terrible economy. Yes I know that the inauguration is in mid Jan not Jan 1.
Trump so far 2017 and 2018. 1.4 T so far. Same-ish track. Trump inherited a mediocre economy.
I really don't care. I know I should, but I don't.
