If you want to blame folks (which, by the way, they blamed Obama, Bush, and Clinton too) blame yourself for choosing a party line and refusing to work with the other side to accomplish legislation that is good for the country. You and the rest of Americans who have "chosen sides" and refuse to talk to the other side are what's driving up the National Debt.
(R) Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt.

(D) Bill Clinton had federal surpluses from 1998-2001.

(R) GW Bush inherited federal surpluses. Bush then turned those surpluses into huge deficits.

(D) Barrack Obama reduced our deficits by 2/3.

(D) Hillary Clinton would have raised our debt to 85%-95% of GDP, while (R) Donald Trump will raise our debt to 105%-145% of GDP.

The Americans responsible for our debt are those who follow and spread "corporate propaganda" about the causes of our debt. Example,

Donald Trumps tax cuts will add $2.2 trillion dollars to our national debt.

But the "corporate propaganda" influenced Americans ignore the above $2.2 trillion being added to our debt, and then they say "spending is causing our debt." How can we ever solve our debt problem when so many Americans ignore, hide, and cover up trillions of dollars being added to our debt with supply side tax cuts?

Obama's policies added about $2.2 trillion dollars to our national debt during his time in office.

Obama added $2.7 trillion dollars to our national debt from 2013-2022 by extending 82% of the Bush tax cuts.
Budget Deal Makes Permanent 82 Percent of President Bush

And Obama added $831 billion dollars to our national debt with his 2009 stimulus.

The other $7 trillion dollars added to our debt during Obama's time in office was caused by the Bush administrations Iraq/Afghanistan wars, GW Bush's tax cuts that took place when Obama first entered office, increased spending by GW Bush (Bush increased spending by 48.6%), and federal subsidies started by GW Bush, ex.ex.

Debt ceiling limit will be reinstated on March 2nd.

What should it be raised to $23 trillion? $24?

Sure thing.
  • 45 Presidents in US History.
  • $22T National Debt
  • Barack Obama is responsible for 31% of it.
So 1 President out of 45, Obama, created close to 1/3rd of the current national debt. I'm sure the OP doesn't want to talk about that.

(how do you know when it's really cold weather in DC? Obama has his hands in his own pockets. )

Obama 6.3 T or 28%. 2009-2016. Obama inherited a terrible economy. Yes I know that the inauguration is in mid Jan not Jan 1.
Trump so far 2017 and 2018. 1.4 T so far. Same-ish track. Trump inherited a mediocre economy.
