Ok, you get nice healthcare (but even that comes with caveats) and public transportation in Denmark. And now, here's the price you pay for it:

https://www.nationmaster.com/country...Cost-of-living

The average cost of a car is $25,000 higher, utilities are higher, housing costs are significantly higher, clothing is higher, restaurants are higher, practically everything is more expensive in Denmark... and yet the average income is roughly the same as in the US.
I have a friend that used to work for me that resides in the Netherlands....he bought a Mazda CX-9 for $42K and his carbon tax was another $43K so $85K. Then he pays a yearly road tax that is a couple thousand and gas prices about double what they are in the USA.

He is a Process Engineer and makes about 65% of what he would make at the same company at the same job and grade working in our Houston office and then he pays a 52% income tax. Hey, if our young want that, have it, I'm glad I just retired before ya'll screw it up.

I've been to Solvang, cute little town. Seriously, I beg California to create Denmark in California (you'll have to up your oil and gas production by the way)....either show us how great it is or shut up and jump on the Trump Train Miracle.

For the third or fourth time, oil and gas is not a big part of the Danish economy.

Oil production in California is nearly double that of Denmark.

For the 4th or 5th time, you are still wrong. Even taking your stats, California would have to multiply their oil and gas production by 350% to match Denmark as a % since California has 7 times the population of Denmark.

Also, Cali has significantly higher income per capita so that should be okay to be reduced and the cost of most everything except health care would be significantly higher

I'm begging California to create a Socialist model and combine that with open borders and show us how great it's going to work so we would no longer be in doubt.

Damn straight.

And if there's one thing all countries (including Denmark) seem to have in common, it's a disturbingly high percentage of people insisting that their little corner of the world is as close to perfection as any country ever gets. It follows that anyone who suggests that, y'know, perhaps those other guys have a decent idea worth looking at is unDanish/unAmerican/whatever. And by God, does Denmark suffer from that sometimes.

You have yet to prove your claim, and meanwhile, I have proven mine.

Denmark has some sources of oil and natural gas in the North Sea with Esbjerg being the main city for the oil and gas industry. Production has decreased in recent years, though. Whereas in 2006 output (measured as gross value added or GVA) in mining and quarrying industries made up more than 4% of Denmarks's total GVA, in 2017 it amounted to 1.2%
1.2% of an economy is not a significant amount.

Hi. Dane here. You're wrong. Denmark is just barely self-sufficient in oil, with 0.1% of the workforce involved in resource extraction overall. There's a reason we make the world's best wind turbines.

I thought we were talking about Denmark? How does capital-S Socialism and open borders fit into that debate?
