There is. We’re gonna use it over the next two weeks in Afghanistan. We’re also gonna give that amount to Israel this year.

So it’s definitely sitting around....genius.

I agree with a few things
1. I don't like tax breaks especially for rich corporations or sports team. Especially if they threaten to move to a different city.
2. The war in Afghanistan and Iraq is stupid and draining us trillions of dollars over the decades.
3. I have no problems with teachers getting a better salary or infrastructure than needs fixing.
4. But AOC needs to understand Econ 101. I have no problem with her decrying the tax breaks and even derailing the deal. That is between her, Cuomo and De Blasio. But saying that now there is free $3B to use on teachers and subway infrastructure is pure stupidity. She needs to keep her mouth shut for a few months and learn the ropes.

Of course the government isn't literally cutting a check for $3 billion, that's not how it works. "Subsidy" is just an easy way to say public funds will be used to finance certain operating costs of a private entity. These can come in the form of leases, construction costs, staff time, or several other things. The whole issue was the $3 billion incentive in the first place for a company that made $11.2 billion in profits in 2018.

AOC thinks there is a pile of money laying around to the tune of $3 billion dollars for her to spend now. The $3 Billion was in the form of tax breaks, rebates etc....It is money ONLY on paper that the city would never see. AOC is truly special.

Not quite the right way to put it. It is real money, but it is only money that get invested IF Amazon comes and invests even more.

If we "saved" $3 billion by not offering this subsidy (yes, I know it is no such thing) to Amazon-how about we save far more by eliminating actual subsidies of taxpayer money for things like solar and wind farms, home solar energy panel installation and electric cars? Then we could definitely afford to pay more teachers.
