I don't get a few things about this thread. 1.) Both sides seem overeager to blame the other side for this. I get that some people wish to place blame moreso than try to make it so this does not happen again or at least as often. But it's a very bad look for both sides.
2.) Enforcing laws already on the books is a very important part of making sure guns don't get into the hands of those that should not have them. Those victims were failed by a system that was suppose to keep them safe. But some people see this failure as a reason to wipe current regulations off the books since it did not work here. That's outright dementia. Better gun control has to mean enforcing already existent laws.
Yeah, the more I read some posts around here I have to wonder if the russian bots are back trying to create positive spin for republicans with utterly ridiculous claims.
Anyway, waiting now for CNN to start running articles about the shooting reporting that the shooter wore a MAGA hat....
Shooter in deadly Illinois rampage was not supposed to own a gun
In March 2014, he applied to buy a gun from a dealer in Aurora. After a waiting period and passing a background check that did not involve fingerprinting, he bought the gun, she said.
Later that month, he applied for a concealed carry permit, and a fingerprint check led authorities to discover the Mississippi conviction, Ziman said.
The permit was rejected, and Illinois State Police sent him a letter demanding he voluntarily surrender the weapon, but he did not, the chief said. Investigators are trying to determine why he didn't surrender the weapon and whether law enforcement followed up with him to confiscate the gun
Awwwww. I was hoping this embarrassing thread wouldn't get merged. How disappointing.
So, in 2014, the government at the state and federal level, all Democrat, failed to keep this person from buying a gun, yet somehow it is Trump's fault in 2019?
I think that sums it up...……..
