No more red/blue state Election Night graphics when it comes to the presidential election.

The president/vice president must be elected by the popular vote.

That means in 2000 it should have been **President Al Gore/Vice President Joe Lieberman.

Bush would have gone back home to Texas, probably run for a third gubernatorial term in 2002, Jeb and him would probably think of running in '04 against McCain and George Allen in the '04 GOP primaries; Cheney back to Halliburton.

That means in 2016 it should have been **President Hillary Clinton/Vice President Tim Kaine.

Trump, a billionaire would have gone back to NY and Mar-a-lago, back to his business, he would have gotten his Moscow Russia project done, Pence would have retired as Indiana governor and probably get a job in the private sector, or potentially run in the '20 election against Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz in the '20 GOP primaries.

Will both parties squeal if the EC is abolished?
Yes they would. They would be upset because in the end they couldn’t steal votes from the third parties.

Oh ffs, this again? Ya know what, you don’t want the Electoral College or the 2nd Amendment, then Judy go ahead and try to amend the Constitution already so this can be decided once and for all when you fail. You know what it takes (amending the Constitution) so try that instead of whining it about it all the time.

No, his goal is to Make America Great Again.

The electoral college isn't going anywhere.

Trump will be re-elected quite easily.

This has nothing to do with who would have benefited, it's about correcting a wrong. The Founders created the electoral college because (a) they didn't trust the people would elect the "right" candidate, and (b) they needed to give something to the smaller states that were feeling bullied. It was a bone thrown out to get everyone to ratify the Constitution.

The ironic thing is the EC totally backfired - if it had functioned the way the Founders envisioned, the EC would have decided the voters were nuts to elect Trump and they would have voted for some other Republican. It was never supposed to be a rubber-stamp approval, it was supposed to make sure only upstanding, moral, rich WASPs held office. They thought the masses could not be trusted and would elect some crazy yahoo so the EC was supposed to prevent that. Obviously with Trump it failed miserably.

True democracy is basically, the majority rules. As long as we have the EC we are not a democracy. Get rid of it. That way nobody can complain.

Then get started on that amendment so we can stop hearing your type whining about it when it fails once and for all.

The EC will never actually be abolished, but it might eventually be effectively neutered , which would happen if enough states with enough electoral votes pass the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

You are assuming the popular vote would the same without the EC, it would not.

One reason he is unpopular is because he spends more time campaigning for the job he already has than actually doing the job.
