The important thing to remember is that this 27.6 meth labs for every 100,000 Missourians ratio is AFTER a significant reduction in meth labs after they restricted the sale of a key meth substance. The ratio used to be many more meth labs per residents.

But remember, meth > homeless. So despite having many more meth addicts per capita than anyone in the nation, this is still a win for the right-wing because at least these are not homeless and CA still sucks. Don't question, if you don't understand this logic then you are obviously not fit to be a right-winger.

Despite the drop in local methamphetamine production, Missouri still clings to its old reputation, clocking the most meth labs in the country per capita with 27.6 labs for every 100,000 residents, a DEA report showed.

Stop it. We’re not allowed to discuss rural criminality on CD. We only discuss big city crime here.

Most of those meth labs are in the St Louis area.

Medical marijuana was recently passed in Missouri. Surely that will send the meth rate down. Same for opioids.

Unlikely, meth and opioid users prefer those drugs, many do not even use marijuana, its a different 'high'.

How stupid is the govt in this area, restricting access to key ingredients to make meth is not effective in the least, they should have learned this lesson by now, there are countless other ways for them to obtain the ingredients anyway.

Whenever articles like this pop up, you have to 'read between the lines' so to speak, if they are trying to reduce the number of DIY meth labs, its only because that is competition to the big cartels and the meth they supply, same thing happened when they cracked down on opioid prescription drugs, it had nothing to do protecting anyones health or safety, it was really about getting rid of the competition, and now today, we have heroin epidemics instead of painkiller epidemics.

The drug laws are set up and engineered to benefit drug cartels and ensure they maximize profit.

See? The Midwest are proper get-up-and-get'm Americans with entrepreneurial drive and pioneer spirit. There's a market need, they fill it, and ignore government overreach.

CA was the original "leader of meth" in the US, OP please explain.

In the 1990s, Mexican drug trafficking organizations set up large laboratories in California. While these massive labs are able to generate fifty pounds of the substance in a single weekend, smaller private labs have sprung up in kitchens and apartments, earning the drug one of its names, “stove top.” From there it spread across the United States and into Europe, through the Czech Republic. Today, most of the drug available in Asia is produced in Thailand, Myanmar and China.
