Liberals tend to live in urban areas, which have higher concentrations of people and are therefore more expensive. I think it's as simple as that.

[quote=folkguitarist555;54469532]Arrogant, snobby, money grubbing liberal elitists with no hearts who regard the Midwest and the southern States as fly over country. Nothing more repulsive than a liberal elitist.[/QUOTE

Sweeping generalizations. I grew up in blue collar Michigan, thirty year career in liberal Boston and retired in the South. Love the people and life in all three regions.
Nothing more repulsive than an angry curmudgeon. You need to meet more people.

If you've ever been to Redding, you'd know why. It's filled with homeless, meth addicts, opioid addicts and other trashy people. There's no industry to speak of there, just low paying jobs. It's the West Virginia of California.

Homicide rate much higher in Compton. 35 murders in 2016. A rate of about 35 per 100K.

California is highly liberal and has the highest percentage of those over 25 without a high school diploma.

Sounds like those liberal ghettos with murder rates approaching 100 per 100K.

WV: 57.8 age-adjusted deaths per 100K

And it even points out WV in the narrative above the map:
WV is a ***thole. No one wants to live there... Conservative or Liberal.

But it also has the 14th highest rate of those 25 and over with a bachelor's degree. And the 14th highest rate of those 25 and over with an advanced degree. West Virginia is dead last in both of those categories.
