So what has changed in the law that would make scotus reconsider?
And if they do, and strike it down, will trumps handlers have to take away his Twitter account?
He would be sued on a daily basis. LOL

Trump had damn well hope that law isn’t changed. The discovery alone would be scandalous. He should quit while he is ahead.

His position echoes complaints of President Donald Trump, who has called for libel laws to be reconsidered in light of news stories about him, said CNN Supreme Court analyst and University of Texas School of Law professor Steve Vladeck...........
"Since he was on the campaign trail, President Trump has complained about libel laws in the United States, and has argued that they should be rewritten,"
The Clown Car does not understand who has libeled whom.
Trump would like to have a crack at WaPo and NYT.

If the law is changed, I hope the first lawsuit for slander the Plaintiff is Barack Obama and the defendant is Trump. The discovery about the detective in Hawaii having proof Obama was not a citizen should be interesting.

That "detective" was no detective.
Mike Zullo was a self-appointed member of Arpaio's cold case posse, and had no license or training as an investigator.

He made some wild allegations, but none of his 'findings' ever held up in court, and Zullo got himself into deep trouble trying to present them that nearly landed him a prison sentence.

Trump met with Clarence Thomas's wife the day before. Basically this is Trump trying to find a way to make newspapers stop reporting on him. Its stunningly idiotic. He of course would claim he was immune to them while in office. The guy plans on dying in office one way or another then.

It shows you how much "conservatives" care about Free Speech. They don't. What they DO care about is monied speech.

Of course, this won't convince a single rightie of what we have been telling them all along....

The problem is the left never stops talking long enough to listen to anyone. They aren't interested in anything but telling people what they should think. Unable to sell their ideas and policies they advocate for open borders to replace the voters that won't listen to them.
The lefts official position is, we cannot be questioned on the blank check we want to write for all the free stuff we offer. Imagine that, people don't want to hear it, but they never stop talking.

Seems to me that Obama would have an easy case if he sued Trump for libel over the "birther" hoax since everything Trump said about it was a blatant lie with malicious intent. A textbook example of libel.

I have no idea how this addresses the subject at hand, but I guess to a hammer everything looks like a nail.

BTW, surely you know the Kochs (monied speech) as well as the Bush foundation and many others are heavily pro-immigration. Being as both come from (and heavily influence) Texas.....the fact that Texas has such open borders and no E_Verify makes perfect sense.

"Telling people what to think"?. That's impossible. The whole idea of basic civil Free Speech - which Thomas is AGAINST, is to allow basically reasonable stuff (there is a standard) to be spoken, written or otherwise disseminated.......

On the positive side, since Thomas wants things to be EXACTLY like in 1790, we can definitely get rid of rifles and go to the front loading muskets and swords.
