BULL.

why you keep trying to pretend this is unclear other than you like the status quo as anything else is likely to result in a balanced representation of the people.

The senators are there to represent the governments as elected by the people. It was never intended to have 0.5 M have the same power as 30 or 40 million.

you know this, but you have to pretend you don't in order to pretend the status quo is the way it "should" be.

It did not matter when there was a balance in low pop states, so people ignored it. But the reality is the senate has far too much power considering the lack of representation for the high pop states..
No. Although I hate using the word "never", I never object to things being FAIR. Sometimes "fair" and "equal" are not the same thing. (For example, if one dog gets two cups of dog food, and another dog gets one cup of dog food, that is is not equal, but it is fair if the first dog is twice as big as the other dog.) That is why the Electoral College, the Senate, and the House of Representatives together do make a fair system.

Back at the time of when the Constitution was created, the different states had different populations, but the "Founding Fathers" still created the Senate/House compromise and it was agreed to by all the states.

From the link: Population of the 13 Colonies 1610-1790 (chart) | YT&T: Study Hall.Rocks

(My italics)

The 13 Colonies by population in 1770

1. Virginia 447,016
2. Pennsylvania 240,057
3. Massachusetts 235,808
4. Maryland 202,599
5. North Carolina 197,200
6. Connecticut 183,881
7. New York 162,920
8. South Carolina 124,244
9. New Jersey 117,431
10. Rhode Island 58,196
11. New Hampshire 62,396
12. Delaware 35,496
13. Georgia 23,375

As you can see, Virginia had almost 20 times the population that Georgia had. Granted, 20 times as much is not the same as 80 times as much, but the comparison is apt; and those who voted to ratify the Constitution about 230 years ago knew that some states would get a "raw deal" (in the opinions of some) regarding the Senate, and yet (to repeat) they passed it, anyway.

In my opinion, you just want EVERYTHING to be your way, and to me, that is a very selfish attitude.

fascism is a leftist ideology ,,,, FDR brought fascism to America, and the liberals lick it up

why lie??

the senate represents the states..each state EQUALLY....why do you fascist liberals have a problem with equality

50 states, all equal as they are a state..each state gets 2 senators... if PR or Guam etc, were to become a state, they too would have two senators

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State. [U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 3, clause 1]

During the summer of 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia established equal representation in the Senate and proportional representation in the House of Representatives.

Connecticut’s Roger Sherman had suggested During the 1787 convention, Sherman proposed that House representation be based on the population, while in the Senate, the states would be equally represented. Benjamin Franklin agreed that each state should have an equal vote in the Senate except in matters concerning money.

Archer Daniels Midland was the driving force behind government support for ethanol, and it goes back to the Nixon administration. The company is the #1 beneficiary of corn subsidies and has a statue of Ronald Reagan in their headquarters. The company donated generously to both parties since the early 70's, before Gore was in DC. Republican Bob Dole was known as Senator Ethanol.

34% of the ENTIRE NATIONS welfare population... is in California

No matter what you think, the fact that 13 of the 15 states mentioned above who TAKE the most money for WELFARE are BLUE states!!!!
I know you struggle with understanding how math works. California is the most populated state by over 12 million people in the last census, so of course they have the most welfare recipients. Lets keep in mind also that California pays more to the US government than it gets back from the govt, they are paying their own way along with a surplus that mooching red states take while Republican politicians lie about who the real welfare queens are.

who pushed ethanol..al gore....who stupidly pushed for CORN ethanol..al gore

the problem there was the stupid liberals pushed for corn for ethanol...usinga food for oil

they would have been better off with a cane...or even better HEMP

Hemp
has a higher quality fiber than wood fiber. Far fewer caustic chemicals are required to make paper from hemp than from trees. Hemp paper does not turn yellow and is very durable. The plant grows quickly to maturity in a season where trees take a lifetime.

ALL PLASTIC PRODUCTS SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP SEED OIL. Hempen plastics are biodegradable! Over time, they would break down and not harm the environment. Oil-based plastics, the ones we are very familiar with, help ruin nature; they do not break down and will do great harm in the future. The process to produce the vast array of natural (hempen) plastics will not ruin the rivers as Dupont and other petrochemical companies have done. Ecology does not fit in with the plans of the Oil Industry and the political machine. Hemp products are safe and natural.

actually hemp is very easy to grow...needs little watering..need no insecticides...needs no additional fertilize..actually helps the dirt

if gore had been smart he would have pushed for ethenol to be from hemp instead of a food, like corn which need water, insecticide, and fertilize...and is less cellulos than hemp

===================

California RECEIVES more from the federal government than they pay

45% of California is federal land
California STILL owes the federal government nearly 25 billion from a LOAN

California has 34% of ALL the welfare recipients NATIONWIDE...think about that for a second 34% of ALL WEFARE is in California

You aren't even reading, just spouting insane lies in the face of clear evidence to the contrary, and repeating the lies after an attempt to provide you with facts. You can keep avoiding reality, but it doesn't change it.

My guess is that the average person in California couldn't find Vermont on a map, let alone know anything of our history or culture (which has little in common with California). Why should they be able to dictate to us what our laws and priorities are? Their simply having more people is not any justification at all.

You will note, however, that the chart in Post #136 lists the states with the most welfare recipients, not only in order of the number of recipients, but also the percentage of the population. The fact is that in 2014, California had a higher percentage of its residents "on welfare" than any other state.

Also, the figures on the chart are from 2014. I wonder what numbers a current chart would show.

P.S. on Edit: Actually, I am beginning to doubt those figures -- maybe because they are five years old? Anyway, I did a little bit of research just now, and although it doesn't give state rankings in an easy-to-read chart, California actually doesn't look that bad compared to some of the other states. (I was frankly surprised by this.)
