Far be it from me to defend Fox, but if that's the case, Shep goes "off script" pretty frequently, and he's still around. The thing that bugged me about the Tucker segment was that the tone at the beginning was almost ass-kissy, and how quickly that changed when things didn't go as expected. He's just not a very good interviewer, IMO. When he has a guest who represents an opposing view, he usually picks one who couldn't debate his/her way out of a paper bag, then tries to pass them off as typical, and when he has one he considers friendly, he's a total sycophant. This guy surprised him, and he lost his ish over it.
Exactly. Made my day to see that smug, pandering demagogue put in his place. Huckster Carlson's faux populism wasn't about to get a pass from that Dutch historian.
I am just incredulous that a professional could not control himself better.
I know that I should not judge others on how I would react in the same situation, but if someone starts to lecture me about an issue on which we disagree, I will first listen and then counter with facts, not emotion. The only two exceptions to this are (1) if the other person says something so obviously stupid, such as "the average factory worker has more intelligence than Bill Gates", in which case I will just laugh; or (2) if someone calls me a liar, in which case I will become angry (because I never intentionally say something that is untrue).
And as far as the exorbitant incomes of news anchors are concerned, it is not surprising if they become defensive about that. I would think that it would be very difficult to them to feel good about getting so much money for what they actually do -- which is basically just to read and talk and sometimes give their opinions, which most people do for free, anyway, lol. (Yes, they are constantly exposed to public scrutiny and criticism, and probably not many of them have much of a personal life, but I think that most people would give that up for $5 million a year! I know that I would, given the chance (although I think I would quit after a year).
WOW, a smug Millennial bleating about soaking-the-rich with higher taxes, so original.
He's right. The billionaire jet set class are not being taxed enough. Both in W. Europe and the USA - they push around their finances to other countries taking advantage of a myriad of tax laws to pay as little taxes as possible. Globalism has allowed this at an unprecedented level. It's time for countries to band together and begin taxing these people properly.
In another instance, Carlson is heard saying that Iraq is a “crappy place filled with a bunch of, you know, semiliterate primitive monkeys,” adding, “That’s why it wasn’t worth invading.” That follows a 2006 segment on the show in which Carlson said he had “zero sympathy” for Iraqi people and their culture because they “don’t use toilet paper or forks.”
“They’re just so awful. Just awful,” Carlson said.
A co-host on the show replies: “They’re animals, dude. They are."
These comments were made on the Bubba "the love sponge" show. Stay classy, Tuck.
Not bad, either. Conservatives simply don't care. I suspect this will not hinder his career at all. It might even boost his ratings among conservatives.
