Now, right from the gitgo, I am no fan of Ms AOC.
I believe her ideas are in outer space.
One point I began to think about, was her notion to have trains travel on ocean waters, in an effort to do away with air travel.
This was, to everyone, including your's truly, a stupid idea right out of space fantasy.
On second thought, perhaps not so crazy after all.
I don't believe for one minute that she has, or had the capability to actually have reasonable thoughts that travel by train, over water could some day be a reality.
I may be going out on a limb here, but I think the possibility could be very real in the future.
First off, when she mentioned she wanted to have trains move over the oceans, I am sure all of us pictured the trains, and locomotives of today.
Obviously, that would be an impossibility.
There is however an alternative that today is in the design stage for land use, and I believe could be put to use on the oceans, depending on just how the support configuration was designed.
I am speaking of the "hyperloop" .
https://www.independent.co.uk/studen...-a7529316.html
There are two ways to design a system that would be compatible with ocean travel.
One would be a tube system, whereby the hyperloop would be encased in a tube that sits above the water, held in place by centrifugal force, much like a hovercraft.
The other would be individual hyperloop vehicles that again, would be suspended above the ocean like the hovercraft.
Propulsion is the key factor in any design of a hyperloop system, and obviously fossil fuels would be out of the question.
As I said above, when AOS made her comments about trains on water, I don't believe hyperloop even entered her mind.
Putting that aside, I would guess that in the future, people may be able to take a "train" to Hawaii.
