There was a study of African elephants where when the older Bull elephants were killed off by poachers the young Bull males were not disciplined and became trouble makers. The old Bulls taught the young males order and respect. When they weren't around the young males created problems.
Humans are the same. You need the old Bulls to train the young Bulls on how to behave, show respect and stay out of trouble.
Females cannot do what men can do. We see that clearly.
It is irresponsible to waste lots of money on stupid wants like gold chains and medallions.
Purnell writing for the NY Times is insane and essentially calls bad choices and a lack of accountability "black culture."
"How dare, Obama tell people to be accountable. That is anti-black!"
There are all sorts of people from all races that need to get told a similar message. Obama should be praised for the comments, not criticized as anti-black.
I'll throw this in here... the problems in many black communities are not because of race issues, it's because of a lack of responsible men.
Not saying that women alone can't raise up kids... but the percentages are not good, especially in bad environments. It is what it is.
There are race-related issues that account for some of the problems in certain Black communities and some members of other Black communities might use the race card as an excuse to not take responsibility and accountability.
We often do see in the news a person call out sociopolitical issues that their demographic is facing. While that is admirable, figuring out how to properly implement suggested solutions to those problems is another issue.

Get rid of the welfare state and stop enticing people to live on handouts.
".....Crews linked to an opinion piece from the New York Times written by human rights lawyer Derecka Purnell in which she criticized remarks former President Obama made at a town hall earlier this month.
He [Obama] was speaking to a group of young black men, and Purnell took issue with what she saw as Obama’s shaming of black culture:
He and the basketball player Stephen Curry discussed mentorship, masculinity and mass incarceration. But his scolding of black boys drew the most attention.
“If you are really confident about your financial situation,” Mr. Obama told the crowd, “you are probably not going to be wearing a eight-pound chain around your neck.”
“Because you know,” he continued, “‘Oh, I got a bank account.’ I don’t have to show you how much I got. I feel good.”........."
Derecka Purnell: "....His comments disappointed me because they’re part of problematic practices, like calling out black children for having ghetto names like mine or wearing Air Jordans. Such remarks by Mr. Obama reflect his administration’s failure, and to an extent that of My Brother’s Keeper, to tackle the systemic inequality that shapes black people’s lives in America."
Crews’s response: “If a successful black man can’t advise the black male youth of the next generation, who will? THE STREET. That’s who.”..........
I live across the street from a housing project here in NYC. Majority of that housing project is black American. I have to say a lot of black boys need help. I know of black men who have fathers in prison, and are about to join them or will join them in prison in the future. 20k per student public education from k-12 has failed nearly all of the black American males in NYC. As I get older, I can no longer help or mentor young black American men. All I can do is be humble, and whatever mistakes you make, hopefully in the future you can correct and be a better man, citizen and lover. And I say this as someone who is compassion, and has love for black Americans.
Fatherhood is important. Tell your sons and daughter about the past, origins, how they get here, mistake you made. Be examples and role models. Show your son how to love, and show your daughter how to be loved. And last, I'm all for Social Justice. But these radical SJW's and radical feminists and woke Pro-blacks need to stop their crap. Those echo-chambers I mentioned rhetoric causes a lot of hate and to some extent violence.
It was the first thing Obama ever said that I agreed with. Too bad he never did a dam$ed thing to help inner city black men...or women for that matter. I see Trump working on initiatives though.
Obama was elected to save America first after the disaster that Dubya left us...amazing that you would think the first black President could change 400 years of prejudice in 8 years though.
You probably thought he could walk on water too...
The best equipped people to give advice to young black men are grown black men who are successful. They have managed to become successful navigating the same society and world as the younger men. What they are saying is pretty much the same, at least at the core, that a successful white or Asian dad would tell their sons, too... save your money early on, invest, stay out of trouble, have plans.
Female community activists whose entire career and social focus is identifying problems and making a ruckus about them, demanding that others acquiese to their demands, is probably one of the last people that a young, at-risk man should listen to.
A friend told me, marriage is just an expensive peice of paper. Thought about that, its all a human construct. Old fashion type ish..
Clothes are a human construct. So is language, literature, music, etc. All these things evolve over time but they are universal across the human race and developed separately, on different continents, at different times.
Many species of bird mate for life, regardless of whether they are flock or solitary species. They don't cheat, or shy away from it; they get jealous and defensive if other birds try to move in; some don't re-pair after their mates death. If it's hardwired into animals, I don't see why it's such a stretch to believe that it was hardwired into humans as well, since we are simply high-functioning animals.
