That PBS special I cited above I believe talks about Walmart, in at least on instance, getting huge tax breaks to setup shop in small towns. In at least one case, practically bankrupting a town as well due to the amount of assistance they received, and them scrapping the store.

Walmart is a corporate welfare recipient.

It was a year or two ago, so I don't remember all the facts, but it wasn't good

I read some of the link you provided. There's quite a bit of information, but I found no information related to the incident you are referring to or any other "corporate welfare". Maybe I missed something.

You would have to watch the show, which I think there is a link to.

I was flipping through the channels one day and it was on PBS. That's how I was exposed to it. I've never actually read through the website, but I know it's in the video.

If this is such an egregious act of corporate welfare, why is it so difficult to reference? I believe that anti-capitalists WANT this to be the case, in an attempt to denegrate those who have been able to achieve. Be advised, I am not calling you an anti-capitalist.

I understand.

In fact, I normally don't see a whole lot wrong with it when it's BALANCED.

Unfortunately, Wal-Mart has been abusing it IMO.

The other thing is, WHY does WalMart get the Dole while Mom & Pop have to close up shop?

Watch that video. If I remember correctly, that is the one that will expose what is happening.

Why don't you see it elsewhere? They're Wal-Mart, lol. Suppliers can't say a thing, they have too many politicians in their pocket, and even media houses have to be tight lipped. Too many news outlets have products that are sold by them.

A perfect example is ABC News. That's Disney. LOTS of Disney merchandise on Wal-Mart shelves

Here's a wee bit on the (or one) the Walmart scandals:

http://www.progress.org/2005/tcs179.htm

It does appear that google.com is changing it's search engine and pushing some sites more than others--usually stuff related to making money for google. . Hence, it is becoming more difficult to rely on their engine as the best source for impartial information. Just 2cents plain!

Thanks for that link, though it is a bit misleading. The highway that will be expanded/widened is a Bentonville street that is quite congested. It just happens to lead to the Walmart complex. The piece you provided the link for would make you think that it's Walmart's road. I don't see this any worse than the rest of the $24 Billion in pork projects in that same bill.

After 101 votes (admittedly some duplicates as I left the poll as a multiple-choice option) we are a mixed bag of equal Democrats to Republicans, with quite a few Independents.

If I did the poll again, I'd make it one choice only, and add Conservative, Liberal and Progressive.

Hope if more people look that the poll results they may think about reducing the number of "you" "me" and "them" accusations. We are a group of individuals, myriad thoughts, multiple opinions, and vastly similar and equally different.

I am certainly encouraged by the 13% Libertarian count, and these are only the ones that admit it.
