So you agree to meet Catholic schools where they are. That's great, thank you.

Probably what she was applying to me, just the other side.

Why would you think that but this would be what the kids of the lesbians would hear so why would they want their kids to go there?

I do appreciate that half of the people signing the petition against the parish’s decision are its own members. They need to know just how out of touch they are with their own parishioners.

The church does not make policy on the feelings of people in the church. It's Catholic not Protestant.

Yes, I do. Some RC policies grieve me deeply, and this is one of them, but ultimately, it is their privilege to refuse school enrollment to this child. I also believe the child will be better off in a more tolerant academic environment that will not undermine the validity of his family structure.

Whoa, hold up there. Protestantism was not founded on feelings. Check your history. Furthermore, to cast the three-legged stool of scripture, tradition, and reason as merely “feelings” is wildly inaccurate.

I respect the right of private religious institutions to limit membership, when their lifestyle choices conflict with the core beliefs of the religious institution.

Are you really trying to say that the Catholic Church has remained unchanged since it began and hasn’t evolved with changing attitudes throughout the past 20 centuries?

At any rate, I find it appalling that they would punish an innocent child because they disagree with the parents’ lifestyle. It’s not as if the kid had any choice in having same sex parents. What sort of message does that send to this child and the children of other same sex couples about the Catholic Church? That they are inferior and not worthy, because of something they themselves have no control over. That it’s more about politics than it is about the person. The Jesus portrayed in the Bible would not have rejected this child because of that. Yet again, we have another example of the hypocrisy of this church, where archaic dogma flies in the face of what the religion is supposed to stand for.
