White people have more money on average than blacks and Hispanics. Therefore they spend more money on stuff, the production of which causes air pollution. Blacks and Hispanics, with less money on average, tend to live in less desirable places closer to sources of pollution. So they suffer more pollution-related early deaths which are, ultimately, the fault of white people.
Well of course, did you know everything is, ultimately, the fault of white people.
You are taking this very personally. Could it be that you’re also playing identity politics? We all need to take responsibility for our choices, and some of us may experience a moment of clarity about our consumption habits as a result of this study. Self-awareness is not a bad thing.
Exactly, just because the article discusses race doesn't mean it's a personal attack on white people.
It's almost comical how distorted the ego is of people who think like this.

The research confirms with new statistical certainty the determination that racial and ethnic minorities are acutely vulnerable to air pollution because of the neighborhoods in which they live. But it also introduces a largely unstudied element into the analysis, examining who is responsible for the pollutants inhaled disproportionately by blacks and Hispanics. The answer, according to a nationwide team of engineers and economists, is white people.
The researchers argue that white people are disproportionately to blame for the consumption of goods and services generating dangerous particles known as “fine particulate matter,” which gets lodged deep in the lungs, causing inflammation that triggers strokes and heart attacks, as well as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. However, this segment of the population doesn’t endure an equivalent share of the consequences.

The study concludes that white people enjoy a so-called pollution advantage. They bear the burden of 17 percent less air pollution than is generated by their own consumption. Blacks and Hispanics, on the other hand, experience a “pollution burden.” They face 56 percent and 63 percent more exposure, respectively, than is caused by their consumption.
Blacks commit higher percentage of crimes. Lets recognize this group and point fingers. Tax them higher for prison costs. Remove their 2nd amendment.Blacks bad. Are you starting to get it now? Identity/divisive politics is unhealthy. So is the feces that npr spews
Your first point is accurate, the rest is all B.S. if you follow the history of Blacks in this nation you'd understand why they commit more crimes. When it comes to people everything is cause and effect blacks are no different.

Oh, i get it now. Whites are the producers so they burn more gas.

Again as others have noted it's ok man no one is blaming you. It has more to with whites having more wealth than anything. If you look at the history of this country you'd understand why that is. Don't take it so personal I'm sure NPR wanted to start a discussion on the facts.

I’m well aware of the impact my consumption habits have on the world and the people on it, some of whom bear a much larger burden than I do. Changing those habits to better align with my values is something I’ve been working on for many years with lots of room for improvement. If this research causes others to have a moment of clarity, I’m good with that.
The researchers found that air pollution is disproportionately caused by white Americans' consumption of goods and services, but disproportionately inhaled by black and Hispanic Americans.
Must be nice to be Asian-American, and thus neither cause air pollution nor suffer from it.

Strange how the media always finds fault, blame, etc with “whites”. Has there ever been a different group “faulted” ? Ever? Once? Never? Didnt think so. Everyone is a victim of white in one way or another. No wonder there is a tidal wave of anti white racism in the world. Gonna fkn bite back one day
