...um, "trannie" is simply short for "transvestite", "***" (ironic that C-D blanks J a p) is short for "Japanese". Nothing offensive there. Guy is an a-hole but not for this. Stop looking to be offended over nothing-makes you look like a liberal.

I don't think anybody should be punished for something they wrote, posted, said years ago. Even if they just said it yesterday, they shouldn't lose their career over it. Just stop it!

In term of the word "ja*". It was not an offensive term a long time ago, It was just an abbreviation of the word Japanese. It is not the same as the word Ch*nk for Chinese. But during ww2, well, yeah, ww2 again, "ja*" was then commonly used in newspaper headlines to refer to the Japanese and Imperial Japan. "ja*" became a derogatory term during the war, more so than "Nip".

I am 1/4 Japanese and I can see both sides of the arguments. To me, intent is everything. If the basketball coach said, "***, lighten up." during a game, I say, go for it. No need to over analyze it. If some politician says, "Put japs in the camp again." well, I'd better pack up my belonging and find another home. lol It is what it is for me.

J**-Fest is an annual Japanese car show in Ireland. In 1970, the Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada opened the "Jungle J**" boutique in Paris.

So yeah, when you say ***, I know what you mean. I know you meant to insult or nothing bad at all. So intention is everything to me.

All these blah blah being said, leave people alone, stop demonizing somebody for something they said, posted, wrote 10 something years ago. If you think they made a mistake, then correct them. It is up to them to change their ways or not. People shouldn't lose career over words. sad.

I have friends who call Muslims Hajji, well, when they are combat military service people, I think using the term is understandable. Should they use it to describe all Muslims? no. But it is understandable why they use it.

My fiance's grandpa fought in Pacific during ww2. Too bad he passed away several years ago. He always told me war stories, "Those ja* this and that." I know he just wanted to share his glory days. I found it absolutely amazing and I looked up to him as he was an American hero. I know he wasn't talk about me personally lol

And Media Matters doesn't? We're seeing them do so right now with Tucker (and they do it regularly), yet they won't say a word about their president.

Media Matters is run by liberals, so it's OK.
