None of the above. How about a box truck filled with diesel fuel and fertilizer driven thru a crowd at any large event ?

That's the difference between MILITARY ASSAULT RIFLES and civilian rifles. Civilian AR15s are NOT FULLY AUTOMATIC. They may look alike but are very different
Who mandates that assault weapon must be fully automatic?

No one. Lawmakers get to define words, and many define semi-autos as assault weapons, and to be honest......why should anyone give a rip?

That is not how anything works.

First I've heard it put that way. I certainly agree.

Of note, a real somebody, without a gun, stopped the terrorist in the second mosque during the New Zealand attack.
A young man who works at the mosque as a caretaker rushed the shooter, Syed Mazharuddin who was worshipping in the second mosque, said. “He saw an opportunity and pounced on him and took his gun,” he said. The gunman allegedly fled to his car and left the scene.
Note: The hero did not have a gun.

Note: Once the gun was removed the killing stopped.

Lesson: Guns kill people. Period.

When I listen to friends or relatives who have never even held a gun much less understand how it operates, yet talk about things as if they are knowledgeable, it lessens their credibility on the subject.

I suspect some people use incorrect terminology either for effect or repeating liberal talking points which are used for effect.
We all know the name/word games liberals like to play, whether it be about abortion, affirmative action, or firearms.

As it relates to firearms, a couple of the most common mistakes are calling semi-auto guns, machine guns and/or assault weapons.
A machine gun is full auto and will fire every round with one pull of the trigger. True assault weapons are either full auto or selective fire which means they can go back and forth between the two. Civilian versions are not full auto, thus calling them "assault weapons" is inaccurate.
The implication is regular citizens should not have access to military weapons, so if they mis-classify semi-auto civilian guns as military guns, more people might go along with restricting them.

Then you have the term "silencer" in stead of suppressor. The name implies that a gun with one attached is somehow silent, thus perfect for assassination type of activities anti-gunners presume law abiding citizens might want to carry out.
In reality suppressors do not silence a gun such as what is portrayed in the movies/TV. Instead like a muffler on a car/motorcycle they reduce the db's which is a positive attribute for reducing hearing loss and noise pollution.
Many countries mandate their usage for those reasons. But anti-gun types frequently call suppressors silencers to be deceptive. Notice the pattern.

So when that poster said you were wrong, he was correct.

mmmm...Yea. Another constructive commentary from a gun hater who also lets his hatred of a piece of equipment drip onto people who don't agree with him. Good job man! Insults are always a good way to start a discussion. Oh, I'm sure your personal knowledge of the subject at hand is more than adequate to actually present your opinion and be taken seriously. . Maybe you should try that sometime instead of blithely insulting and thus angering millions of people. But you gun owner haters have no interest in honest discussion. It serves your purpose more to keep poking the bear.

But hey, I invite you to have an actual discussion and comparison of opinion in a manner befitting adults if you can mange to muster the wherewithal and not fall back on the time honored tactic of insulting and attempting to degrade your opposition. Lets see how long I can hold my breath.

Semi Auto firearms are NOT assault weapons, and no politicians don't get to decide what something is or isn't, or force me to call something a label which is clearly inaccurate.

Semi auto firearms have been around since the late 1800's. Now all of a sudden we can't trust humans to possess them? I will tell you what IS dangerous. Arbitrarily taking away the RIGHTS of the law abiding citizen.

By U.S. Army definition, a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power.
