Be honest...the left just wants to ban rifles because their ultimate goal is to get at handguns.

Is there anyone in jail here that wasn`t a member of the "law abiding populace"? Life would be so easy if we were branded at birth as a law abider or criminal but it doesn`t work that way. We let everyone who wants a gun to have a gun one way or another and then we sit back and watch the mayhem and shell out our hard earned money to lock them up.

There are 5 million people living in New Zealand, about the same as the State of Michigan. So this is really like 'Michigan State bans assault rifles'.

like I said.........

Those of you supporting this ban, your logic is flawed and your stance can be ripped apart in a honest logical debate, are you up to the challenge?

New Zealand is an island. Michigan has borders states that have lax gun laws and open borders. It will be a lot harder to bring guns into NZ than it would to bring into open bordered Michigan. Yes.

Only few years ago you supported gun grabs. What happened?

Why don't we start with answering the question. Why do you need an assault rifle? Other than you have a right to one. Thanks.

Because its not common to have 50 people die in less than an hour to gun violence in New Zealand. Shows how skewed our thinking is in America, we have mass shootings so often that we forget its not normal.

Again I am a 2nd amendment practicing believer but I can acknowledge the issue at hand, mass killings with a weapon of choice for perpetrators. Also New Zealand banning assault weapons is not surprising to me, most countries in that region of the world have gun bans of some sort including Australia their close trade partner.

Its clear to me that these weapons are keeping gun stores open, manufactures in business, and gun ranges open. Many gun stores have "assault" style weapons mounted all over the walls and glass cases. Their expensive, rarely much improved over their standard variants, custom parts suppliers love these weapons, and people collect them by the 10's. But the general public could care less and the NRA burnt through any good will it had with most Americans. I think a ban is coming and it will hurt the industry.

can I use words like gazillion? Phrases like "high powered bullets?" Even though no one knows wth that is

But then, we see assault rifle, and no one knows that is a real machine gun with select fire. We see assault weapon even though the only assault weapons are actual full auto.
