Our military-style killing machines are for defending ourselves against the other people who have them. As long as you want to put them in the hands of your government goons, then there is no way to make a serious argument that the rest of us can't have them.

Does anyone here think that the church shooting wouldn't have happened if this ban had already been in place?

Doesn't matter the topic. It's never enough, and it never will be.

It will always be the next thing. Authoritarians never let a tragedy/crisis go to waste in their constant quest for greater control.

People looking to do harm are going to find a way to do harm. The "authorities" are not likely to be on the scene ready to protect people. Lots of bad stuff can happen during that initial response time. People need to be aware of their surroundings, armed, and ready to neutralize an armed threat. At least you go down with a fight instead of going down like a sitting duck. The reality is the world is not a nice place.

If it did, perhaps there would be less carnage without an assault weapon?

You ban happy types don't really care about stopping criminal misuse of firearms. If you did you would take the time to actually study the issue and stop relying on childish, insulting and degrading commentary that does NOTHING to actually address the issue.

You would also know that there are current laws that LE does not enforce to the point of blatant negligence.

Wow.

Sounds like you want even more mass shootings.

Meanwhile in the US... AR-15 rifles were used to commit every major mass shooting in the United States since the 2012 attack in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater and we do nothing.
Jacinda Ardern is inspiring the world, with the grace and empathy she's shown in the aftermath of this tragedy. Do you think they'd let us borrow her for awhile?

Sounds like people in the mosque needed to be armed themselves. Who convinced them they were safe in this evil world? The Quran?

New Zealand seems like a really awesome place. Everyone I've met from there was nice and chill, and it looks so beautiful. Can't wait to travel there one day.

I admire them even more now. This is what a proper response looks like.
