Should have known it was an excuse to escape the upheaval in the Republican party. Ryan is not up to a challenge and I suppose does not want to be associated with trump.

"Retired" to be with the "Fox Family."

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan joins board of Fox Corporation

I'm sure being on the board of Fox will take way less time than being Speaker of the House. Not sure why someone would damn the man for earning money.

When you "worked" 40 hour a week, didn't you ALSO have "family time"?

Congressmen average around 70 hours a week. The Speaker maybe even MORE. NOW he will spend a LOT less, leaving him MORE "family time"

Members of Congress work an average of 70 hours per week when in session and nearly 60 hours per week for district work periods, with approximately 13 meetings a day, according to a report by the Business-Industry Political Action Committee and the Congressional Management Foundation.Oct 28, 2014

Pretty much. And as speaker, his hours were likely much more than that. Wanting more family time doesn't mean that you can afford to not work. OP must not have held down a real job ever

If I could me meet in person and rant about how the Disney-Fox merger is messed-up (semi-monopoly, thousands of lay-offs, and over a century of Fox film legacies going to a rival), I would have asked him "assuming you knew all this before the merger was complete, would you have rallied for or against the merger in whatever form you could have rallied in?"

Congress works about 130 days/year so that averages out to be about 25 hours per week.

Congress members are in DC about 130 days per year, they also have to spend time in their district doing their job. This might be your weakest troll ever, even the left wingers are telling you you're wrong.

The 'family time" bull crap is in the same disingenuous category as "thoughts and prayers". Fox propaganda contributing has become the same revolving door career after leaving their do-nothing government jobs as becoming a lobbyist is for the Republi-cons.

I don't know. Trips to Hawaii to lay out of work sound pretty cushy to me. Not to mention irresponsible.
