Carol Brady, Marsha Brady, Jan Brady and Cindy Brady. As long as we are being ridiculous, hey, let's go full throttle ridiculous.
Why is this thread ridiculous? It’s an interesting look at how we posters view the women who influenced America. I think this is among the best threads posted to P&OC recently.
Some more info on Lola Montez, (nee Elizabeth Rosanna Gilbert, 1821-1861). She was a 19th century actress and dancer of Irish descent. She reportedly had flings with Franz Liszt and Alexander Dumas, 'among others.'
In 1853 she moved to Grass Valley, CA. That was where she had a run-in with a newspaper editor who had attacked her in print. According to historian Paul Johnson, she went after him with a horse-whip, forcing him to slink out of town. She died in NYC in 1861. I would have voted for her, but I had used up my 4 choices on others.
Mt. Rushmore is an all-white-male preserve: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt. I'd very much like to see an all-female version. Whom would you vote to honor? You can vote for multiple choices, but since there are only four on Mt. Rushmore, please vote for no more than four. There's no way to enforce this under the CD polling system, but I make it a public poll so that any cheaters will be exposed.
The project could be done right here in Washington State, on Mt. Rainier. It would be a national treasure!
I picked 5.
Abigail Adams
Eleanor Roosevelt
Harriet Tubman
Susan B Anthony
Sojourner Truth
Sojourner Truth can be found way near the bottom of the poll, should be up higher on the list.
