So what you’re saying is that most of the country are democrats
What I am saying is the big states, California alone, will decide everything. California is overwhelmingly Democrat. There would be no way for the rest of the country to overcome that.
If it's gone nobody has a reason to vote anywhere because Democrats will win every election no matter what.
Well that in and of itself is not a reason to keep or get rid of the Electoral College. It should be more about the principle of the popular vote versus having all states matter.
Republicans are going to have to woo new voters anyways. Hopefully that doesn't mean outspending Yang who wants to more than double government spending and pull a Beto demanding that they tear down walls already built in El Paso.
Had Hillary not campaigned as if it were a popular vote...for example she spend more time in each of the 3 $$$ liberal states that she was sure to win like California, New York and Massachusetts then she did in the following swing states combined Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania...I wonder if this would even be a big issue right now.
Hillary ran the worst campaign ever in US history...was she completely ignorant of the electoral college's existence?
If the electoral college were ended the country would be in permanent gridlock. The Senate would likely become more republican as smaller states start to protest against CA and NY’s pick for POTUS, and they would block every single Supreme Court nominee and vote against every bill that comes through Congress.
So what would be next? Do we get rid of the Senate too?
Think about it. New Jersey hasn't been a swing state since the 1990s presidentially. Tennessee hasn't been a swing state since 2000-when Al Gore failed to win his own home state.
If the EC is gone, the popular vote rules, but TN Democrats and NJ Republicans would actually go out and vote because their vote would be meaningful, won't it?
If NJ republicans don’t vote then how did Chris Christie win the governorship?
The majority doesn't want to live under the rule of the minority either. .
Just the opposite.
The Constitution prevents the will of the majority from being forced on the Minority.
If 60% of the people voted to resurrect Jim Crow Discrimination type laws on the minority, the minority should not have to live under the majority.
If 70% of the people wanted to make Obama or Trump dictator for life, the minority should not have to live with the will of the majority,
The Democrats are attempting an illegal end run around the Constitution in order to install guaranteed one party rule. The are also promoting illegal aliens to enter the country in huge numbers to vote Democrat and install one party rule. Their goal is to usurp power through illegal means. It is very clear. Why would anyone want a party that relies on illegal actions to have any power in the U.S.? Plus they want the law abiding disarmed which is also, wait for it......ILLEGAL.

The problem for Republicans is that a Democrat actually campaigning in Nashville in late September is going hurt them more than their own people campaigning in Evergreen, USA.
Some of these Democratic cities have turnout rates in the low 40's and in some cases, the 30's, compared to rural areas in the high 70's.
Republican pretty much think they have tapped out their own vote where as Dems dont even think they are close to the 75% mark.
Imagine a Democrat actually spending 3 days campaigning around New York City(50%)
then the next 3 in Dallas(52), Houston(53), San Antonio(48).
If for example, New York state had the same turnout as Minnesota, you are talking about an extra 2 million votes.
If Texas had the turnout of Minnesota, we are talking about an extra 4 million votes.

Yes, currently voting is pointless in most States, because they always go either red or blue.
The Constitution prevents the will of the majority from being forced on the Minority.

The Constitution protects the minority.
If 30% of the minority want to make blue states give red states more federal tax dollars because they can't earn it themselves, the majority should not have to live with the will of the majority. IMO it's only a matter of time before the Electoral College is gone. Time will tell but the rural areas are shrinking and the urban areas are growing.
