Sad sad sad
Do they have the ability to store energy when the wind is not blowing or the sun is not shining?

“It only blows sometimes”

Trump is right -- at a 3rd grade level. However, the wind is always blowing somewhere in the USA. Always. And so if we were smart and we had our act together, we could improve the national grid so excess wind power can be sent to areas where the wind isn't blowing. Same thing with solar. Excess power from sunny places can be sent to cloudy areas.

I wish we had a leader who would promote science and technology instead of fighting it.

I wish we had a leader who understood anything above a third grade level, or who was at least interested enough in the country he's leading to educate himself. But I'm afraid third grade is as good as it gets with this president.

The problem with wind, is that even if you built enough wind turbines to power the whole country when the wind was actually blowing, you would still require something else as a backup for when the wind wasn't blowing.

A large percentage of the cost of electricity is not from the fuel for a powerplant, but building the powerplant. Nuclear power is practically free, but the plant costs billions of dollars to build and maintain.

So wind and solar cannot replace other forms of energy. And because they require redundant systems as backups, they will always drive up energy prices overall. But they do reduce total emissions by offsetting the need to burn fossil fuels when the wind is blowing.
First it doesn’t take a large amount of wind to make the fan blades start to turn, also electricity produced can be stored in batteries for use when needed. While it may not produce enough when wind is not moving it can replace many of our current fossil fuels which create pollution and are limited in quantities.

Nuclear power cost a lot to build the plants and while producing large amounts it also has the drawback that radioactive waste must be kept away from living things basically forever. So it’s storage and protection will cost money.

I think right now solar and wind can’t replace all our other sources of energy production but can take the place of a large amount of it

No but the amount saved into batteries when both of those were happening can be used when there is not.

And what kind of pollution is created to both manufacture and dispose of these batteries? I understand what you are saying but the answer is never that simple. Battery disposal will be a huge problem.

Those batteries can be reused as rechargeable batteries their pollution is minimal compared to fossil fuel plants. Nothing is completely pollution free but compared to fossil fuel plants is a lot less polluter

Batteries do not recharge forever and disposal will become a huge pollution problem.

We can harness all the renewable wind power needed by utilizing all the hot air liberals produce.
