According to AOC, Congress amended the Constitution to prevent FDR from being re-elected:

"They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected."

(Reminder, FDR died in office in 1945; the 22nd Amendment came in 1947)

For starters the amendment had a grandfather clause so the current president (Truman) would be exempt. Secondly they didn't push the amendment until after FDR died.

Please explain to me again how the 22nd amendment would prevent FDR from getting reelected...

Indeed, although I disagree with OP as AOC is not the dumbest member of Congress. Sadly, she has quite a bit of competition for that title.

Conversely, two states—Oklahoma and Massachusetts—rejected the amendment, while five (Arizona, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Washington, and West Virginia) took no action
