But that's more of a commentary on the high cost of health CARE than an endorsement of socialized medicine.
The US will always cater to the ultra wealthy. Some people can buy a hospital.

The US will never tackle the corrupt cost end of health care as those driving the costs own congress.

Best UK Health Insurance 2019

The NHS in the UK has some very good cardiology units and specialist hospitals such as those I have already mentioned.
He lives in New York with his ballerina girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick -- and their child. Not sure why someone would think he should go away from home to have major heart surgery.

Lots of great places to get care for heart issues in the world....best to stay close to home where your loved ones are I think.

You all are making this way more complicated than it need be.

He lives in New York. He is going 'home' to get health care.

Why would he travel the world?

Over thinking it.
Making it something more than it is.

That's the American way for sure....lol.

The guy has lived in NYC for decades. His girlfriend lives there, and he used to have a townhouse on the upper East side, which I imagine he still has. Maybe his girlfriend will be taking care of him.

Why does every single thing that happens, including Jagger's surgery, have to be used as a partisan political attack? This is beyond ridiculous.

This. Does anyone really think if you have more money than you know what to do with you're going to get the same care and the same doctors as someone who has average or less than average crappy health insurance in the U.S.? Wake up people!

He is Mick Jagger! (Kent man like me :-)) Do you think he is likely to be in ANY hospital ANYWHERE in the world with the rest of the 'oiks'? I think you are just trying to justify your expensive medical care 'over there', you aren't a doctor by any chance are you? Keep the population brainwashed and keep your profits up. Here is a question for you, if you are so against universal medical care why don't you pay privately for your teachers, police force or fire brigade? Surely you would then get a much better service from them no?

And of course USA has some of the best health care if you have money.

But how many Americans have Jagger money?
If you read my post, you could see I pointed out the problem is access.

However, it clearly wasn't an immediate surgery need if he hops on a plane in Miami to go to NYC. If it were he would have had it done in Miami. He had the time and choice to go anywhere else.

He chose not to do the surgery in the UK. The US simply has better hospitals than the UK. Period.

The UK hospitals (like the ones in the US I'm sure) will all vary in 'quality', I do realise that this is so 'bleedin obvious' that you probably don't need telling?

He lives in New York with his girlfriend and his child. He chose to have the surgery near his home. That does not mean you can't get the same care in the UK. Logic doesn't work that way.

Of course there is good care in New York City.

And guess what most Americans don't have access to it.

Jagger own's lots of properties and has always had a home in London, his neighbours on Cheyne walk in the past included John Paul Getty Jr, who he was friends with. Jagger still spends time between homes.

I am also sure he could receive excellent cardiac treatment and surgery in Europe, indeed there are very good state and private hospitals in the UK and Europe.
