I have worked for 3 different corporations and they all had very clear restrictions about what could discussed on workplace sites. Politics was always on the 'no-no' list.

You better believe it. I'm sure many walked on eggshells around her just to keep her out of their faces.

Stupid move on her part.

Yep, kooks like this use the office as leverage. They think so long as their boss doesn't care they can bully everyone else, which would be normal sane people worried about losing their jobs.

Recently a lady at work was fired for putting an anti-Trump smear on our workplace's private forum. It was simply a fun thing asking people to put their favorite hash tag, and then one woman put something like #KillTrump. Another employee complained to HR about this being inappropriate for a private forum such as this. HR spoke to the woman, she felt there was nothing wrong with it, and was told that it would be best if she found employment someplace else and was fired.

I guess offending others was more important to her than her job.
I'm all for free speech, but free speech does not pertain to the job. Not for nothing, I don't think she should have been fired. Probably receive a suspension noticed instead. Like Colin kapernnick. I would love to protest on the job, but at the same time, my employer did not pay me to say anything political on the job. This same notion also extends to talking about race offensively, sex and gender and religion.

Me personally she should have not been fired. Firing people for political, racial sexist views will make people become more hateful and succumb into echo-chambers that supports such views.amd narratives. And yes employers are scared of Mobs. The left has thier mobs, mainly sjws, feminist and racist pro blacks, and the right has their mobs too such as the alt right. All of which are no good in my book. No employer wants to be caught in a battle of words by an employee who said something on their own public or private, or even off do work time. Talking offensively about politics is no different than saying some thing racist or sexist on the job.

If one wants to have a job and speak negatively about trump. Here are the industries where one can do such. Academia, entertainment social media, publishing, lesser extent media.

Really?!?!!!
I had a boss directly tell me to go vote for Hilary Clinton.

When Trump won she didn't speak to anyone for a WEEK. Nothing. Radio silence.

It was creepy.

I would guess she wasn't fired for putting it up (probably was a warning given) but for her attitude when asked to remove it.

This was a workplace's private forum, the rules of which (and I'm guessing there are some) we haven't been told about.

I realize companies like to stay away from controversy, but they need to realize these are very upsetting times in our country, and a lot of us are speaking out and trying to change things. I think that woman might have a cause of action for them suppressing her freedom of speech, if she found the right attorney.
No, she wouldn’t. One, freedom of speech really only applies to government sanctions, not private. Two, technically she broke the law by promoting killing a sitting president. Three, it was a privately owned forum. Four, I am going to venture that her response to being talked to about it had more to do with her firing than just the hashtag itself.

Wow. What an interesting\disturbing\funny thread all rolled into one.

I can't imagine what it must be like working at some place that is very echo-chamberish and the wierdos start to sync-up the crazy. (either party)
