The OP needs to watch the original "Red Dawn" movie with Patrick Swayze starring in it. May give him some insight as to what can happen if a nation, has no one living in it ….that is willing to fight for it.

Conscription is just another word for a draft. I guess 50 years of voluntary service has been long enough and now they want signing up to be compulsory again.

Maybe something big is brewing.

They have been tossing the draft around for several years.
Venezuela.

Don't confuse "a nation" with war profiteers.

Red Dawn is arguably the most libertarian movie ever made, because it shows how people voluntarily came together to protect themselves, their families, and their property. If you recall, the characters in that movie were almost all high-school age, and included females, so they wouldn't have had to register for the draft.

The point is that people will defend what they love regardless without having to be forced to sign up for a government list.

A bus boycott is not the same thing as you well know, or should.

Yeah, refusing to move from your seat on a bus doesn't result in the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi innocents.

I learned that one in government schools.
