I don't think the journalists really cared for Wikileaks. Their parent organizations were forced to cover the stories because of the competitive nature of the business and to get out in damage control for their governments. Suppressing outlets like Wikileaks is merely another front in closing off avenues for whistleblowers who wish to avoid reprisals by the government.

I guess its theft if Assange releases proof that the U.S. committed war crimes but its journalism if Rachel Maddow releases one of Trump's tax returns.

That is if you let your ideology get in the way of the facts.

and the New York Times and Washington Post releasing the Pentagon Papers during war and every liberal in the world giving them high fives and awards for excellence journalism.

Since Assange made Obama and Hillary look bad, then it's theft and Assange is a criminal.

The hypocrisy of those who think Assange is a criminal is astounding.

Assange didn't just release the information, he is charged with assisting in acquiring the information.

Rachel Maddow merely published Trumps return as did other news sources, she didn't steal it.

Do you see the difference.

Assange doesn't have access to government secrets. It was all stolen by government employees and insiders........he just provides a platform for the world to publish 'em.

That's like charging the New York Times and Washington Post of assisting in acquiring stolen classified information during war with the Pentagon Papers........the hypocrisy and the splitting of the hairs.

There is no evidence of that. Wikileaks publishes all the documents they get, and that's what the US hates. In the cases of Snowden, Panama papers, etc. only a tiny amount of the leaks are published. They selectively choose who to expose, while protecting others.

Wikileaks has probably more materials. They are just waiting for the right time. When he's extradited, maybe. I hope they deliver.
