Positive rights - “I have a right to have X provided for me”
Passive rights - “I have the right to be left alone, as long as I leave others alone”
I agree with what they said, but I’m more than just skeptical of positive rights. I’m vehemently against them, because you necessarily violate the passive rights of others.
I just picture a situation where a couple of people are on an island and one says “I have a human right to affordable healthcare”. The other person would look at them like they were crazy.
Adding more people to the scenario doesn’t change the fact that the person is claiming a right to other people’s labor and resources. It really is an entitled first world mentality.

So you don't believe in taxes at all? Because all forms of taxation end up yielding benefits to some people but not usually all people

Nope. What I will say is that everyone who wants that type of system should be free to make it happen, as long as those who don’t like the idea aren’t forced into it. Maybe it’ll be successful and more people will join by choice.

I would agree, if those opting out are not forced to even pay for part of it.
I do think those voting yes here should be free to count their votes, divide the cost by those votes, with just those voting yes contributing to their scheme.

What about taxes that go toward road repair? Why should I have to pay to patch potholes in front of your house that I will most likely never see let alone damage my car by driving over it. Can I opt out? How about taxes for schools, my kids are grown why should pay for someone else's kids to go to school?

There should be no "opting out". You can either opt in or remain free from obligation.
You don't get expelled from a birthing canal into something automatically.
Well, at least that's what us sane folks understand.
