I've yet to hear anyone complaining about a non-white person opening a restaurant that features food from a culture different from their own. In the town I used to live in there was a taco truck that featured a fusion of Mexican and Korean food. No cries of "cultural appropriation" were heard from the SJW set. As in most other things, racial/ethnic/cultural thought-crime only occurs when white people do it.
We have a local pizza joint owned by a Hispanic family. Dang good pizza for the price too.
Classic liberalism, just like when the students at Oberlin College called it microaggression that the Chinese, Vietnamese, and Mexican food weren't "authentic" enough.
I am of Chinese American ancestry and my dad's family used to own a Chinese restaurant. I have absolutely no problem with any non-Asian person of any race making Chinese food or opening a Chinese restaurant.
If you follow the liberal logic, then a non-American person shouldn't open a McDonalds and a non-Mexican shouldn't open a Taco Bell.

Oh bull pucky! Russians, Koreans and Chinese have opened tons of Japanese restaurants in NY and no one cares. The right constantly combs the Internet for these gossipy inconsequential stories or subscribes to sites that do it for them. We have a Turkish guy with a pizza joint nearby...same non-story and as a matter of fact, we had Arabs take over the running of a neighborhood Jewish deli and the business maintained the same steady flow of customers.

Much of the so called Chinese food like egg Fu young served in those so called Chinese restaurants in the us do not serve Chinese food. They serve fast food invented by poor coolies who worked on railways construction and who came up with quick fixes for lunches as they hand washed laundry.......not real Chinese food.
Someone jumped the gun on this one. I guess some would call me a SJW, my kid had to tell me what that meant. "Clean food" simply means what us old folks used to call "health food". It's not a knock on any ethnic group. It's not saying that American Chinese cuisine, or any other cuisine, is dirty or disgusting in any way (people who are posting about cat and dogs, you sound stupid). The woman opened a restaurant that serves what sounds like American Chinese cuisine with less oil, no MSG, and blah blah blah, she's making a go of it. The food might be terrific, it might be terrible. I don't think the people criticizing this woman understand the meaning of "clean" in the food world. And once again, the SJW in me is rolling my eyes at the dumb *so they aren't serving cat! Der, der, der comments. So damned original.
Chinese restaurant opened by white woman shuts down 8 months after controversy
'cultural appropriation' claims another victim.
Quote:
Controversial New York City restaurant Lucky Lee's closed its doors Friday.
The establishment, which was opened in April by nutritionist Arielle Haspel, a white woman, had been marred by accusations of racism and cultural appropriation from the Asian American community. It initially described its cuisine as “clean Chinese food,” comparing its meals to the “icky” dishes at traditional Chinese American joints.
The controversy prompted many in the Asian American community to voice frustrations on the restaurant’s social media accounts and Yelp page. The backlash even led Yelp to temporarily disable the establishment’s listing and Haspel herself eventually addressed the concerns in an interview with The New York Times.
Diversity's racism and intolerance strikes again. Asia appropriated all sorts of things Western then have the gall to attack white people in their own country for cooking cuisine.
